I guess that was the real crux of my question -- is one better off waiting for more desirable offerings or just pulling the trigger on whatever is available? (eg getting this 40k US Airways offer now would preclude me from getting the same card soon if the value goes up to say 75k)
I too feel like I'm in holding pattern, ready to pounce on any grand offers lurking around the corner. But there are still some decent deals to be had. Doing less to nothing is always a viable option too. Like Rick at FTG likes to say, this game is a marathon, not a sprint. :D |
I only have the one citi AA card. I didnt know about this site when I applied for a single card thereby killing my chances of the others. Also, I tried twice for the citi AA business card to no avail. You live and you learn.

Just as an FYI, us airways pulled all 3 bureaus for me...

Wow strange; Barclays only pulled from TransUnion for me (I'm in CT). This is pretty unusual, don't think anyone has reported Barclays as pulling all 3 bureaus?

Maybe time for hotel cards
Like you, I also prefer airline miles over hotel points but it seems like now might be the optimal time for you to build up your hotel points stash. You have all the major airline cards that are out there right now and you can't get any Chase.
I'd throw in the USAirways card for sure, seeing as it is reported to be churnable and you should get a "free" pull since MOST people have it pulling TU. Then, if it goes up later to a higher sign up, you can hope to get it again if it is still churnable. Then, I'dd add in the Virgin 50k (100k Hilton) or the two Hawaiian Airlines cards (35 k or 70k Hilton each). Only downside is that none of them have waived annual fees ($99 for Virgin, $79/each for HA). This is assuming that your credit has recovered since last time and you are itching for another app-o-rama. Can't hurt to add 250k Hilton points and 40k USAirways. |
I'm cooling down with the apps since I got my first denial for too many inquiries recently. ;) I could probably take a few hits with transunion, but not with Experian. It seems like every Massachusetts credit issuers pulls Experian.
I used the search tool, but it seems to be that most barclay (us air) pulls from transunion. Can anyone (from MA) who recently applied for it confirm? I may go for the Virgin Atlantic (even with the annual fee), but that's through Amex. I can't take any more hits on my Experian, so I'll probably wait a couple of months and then re-evaluate what cards I want in my wallet at that time. |
