Advice on credit pulls with another Chase card

I applied for 3 cards in my latest app-o-rama and unfortunately they all pulled from Experian. Not what I wanted but I couldn't find any info in the credit pull database.

I currently have two chase cards. I'm going to cancel one and want to possibly use it as a bargaining chip if needed. Chase will pull from Experian for me I need some advice on whether to do another pull. I want to avoid getting rejecting and waiting 6 months.

I've had 3 pulls in the last week. Besides that the most recent was March of last year, so 3 total over the last six months. None of these where from Chase.

I tried to get reconsideration for a saph preferred today and the woman couldn't do anything for me as i only have a 6k limit with chase. She also noticed that I received 4 cards in the past 4 months, regardless of bureaus pulled, so they do see that.

Eh...probably safer to wait a month or two and give the credit pulls time to age, they can show up as "in last 30 days" (depending on the report format). You would probably have to call reconsideration - whats your current credit limit with Chase? Is there room for negotiation?

I have plenty of credit with Chase to move around. I'm more worried about the "too many inquires". Only two brand new accounts show up on the report right now (waiting to call on the third). The other account openings are early last year.

I would wait to cancel your cancel-able card with Chase, until you call for reconsideration. Make that one of your bargaining chips.

I have inquiries dropping off in March/April (4 total...car shopping. dumb dumb dumb move on not taking the first already awesome loan). But I went through basically the same situation you went through.

Got my 2 from Chase and 2 from Citi....denied on everyone since. Tried Barclays too...just to make sure I got them all...

I am probably going to wait until.....April/May to consider signing up. I will be very disappointed if I get denied again and delayed here. My credit will be in much better shape and both Citi/Chase will have seen me paying all my bills in full every month and see I have access to capital.

I know for me...I will be in good looking shape credit wise and will have had time to see the offers come out (not that many good ones right now per say....sure you can do the Citi TYP or Chase Sapphire route....theres the 70k Marriot....)

My personal goals for 2012 include the SPG Amex in late 2012 on a 30k promo or better. I also want to pick up another airline mile card as I will be ready to drop all 3 airline cards now if promotions to keep them (including no yearly fee) are not offered. Ideally I want to find 50k airline miles or more in the airline bonus.

I want to try and value the cards bonuses around $1000 or more.

I agree on waiting to cancel....

I got the Continental, United, Southwest, Hyatt and Sapphire in the last 12 months....all with substantial sign up bonuses. I cancelled the Continental and United late in the year.....

Then I wanted to get the Freedom with the 30K sign up bonus. At first they totally denied me at the reconsideration line. Would not move around credit lines either. My only bargaining power was talking to a supervisor and giving up my Hyatt and Southwest cards. They would not move credit lines for me. But I did get the Freedom....with a substantial credit line. So even though they could have approved me and spread out the credit line, they would not.

I applied for the Chase Shappire on Nov 3rd (I remember date cause it was the one day 75k offer from AMEX), and I think I may have called reconsiderations too late as they saw the AMEX on there and would not budge. I called a couple times and they kept saying no. I've had the One Pass, Hyatt, BA and Southwest cards. I currently have the last two, with enough credit limit (10.5k) to keep two cards at 5k. But they kept saying no. I think it was bc they saw I applied for the AMEX. FYI, my credit score on Experian is 744 now (about 20-30 points lower than on others due to churning, Id guess). At the time? Maybe 730

Dang, I should have talked to a Supe. The first line people denied me three times!

They were intially denying me also because of inquiries. I had an excellent credit score (over 780)....and had 20K on my Hyatt card that I was willing to move over to the Freedom card. I said I would be fine with 5K on my Hyatt etc since I pay things off every month anyway. The guy looked at my credit report and basically told me I had 19 inquiries for new credit in the last 2 years....and that is why he was denying me. I had received a lot of cards with Chase so I understood the reasoning. But I really needed the Freedom since I had just opened my Chase checking account and wanted to tie it all together! So that is why I asked for the supervisor....I said "pretty please let me give up Southwest or Hyatt if I have to!"....and I got stuck having to give up both....which was fine because they are transfer partners with Sapphire...

That's the rub, it is a Continental which will be charged the annual fee on Feb 1st.

Should I go ahead and cancel it or gamble with an app? Maybe if I call they might waive the fee but I already received 10k miles when I called to cancel last time.

If you want to cancel, so ahead, but make sure you get your credit limit transfered to your other account. Main thing is not if you have five cards but total credit limit on accounts. Secondarily, it is important to have cards as mentioned above if you need to cancel to get new one. But I think if you have one card, theyll generally give you two. If you have two, a thirdmight be harder to get

That's not bad, good to know. I was thinking of getting the Shappire, but I think Im going to keep my SWA Visa since it's basically a free card with the 6k annual bonus. Same thing with my US Airways card (10k annual bonus for $89 is a great deal, plus 5k off redemptions on US Air metal). I have a BA card Im going to give up, but it hurts not being able to get points for United/Co since they have the best avilabilty on places I want to go.

But considering I can still apply for the ink bold, shappire, united card, etc...I got a long way to go before running out of mile :P
