ORD-HKG-PER should be the best option, all others requires 2 stops. More stops = more trouble, you might somehow miss a flight/baggage went nowhere etc, and given your frequency to fly it is fairly possible.
You will most probably qualify for the fare requirement of miles thru cx, as even if they post their lowest standard fares it's just less than 200 cheaper than H (exclude special offers). Not to mention HK has the best airport to spend a few hours, and cathay lounge really stand out of the crowd. I'm flying ORD-HKG next week. I don't dare to try any American trans-pacific anymore, even in business. I was in business in March from HKG-SFO, and when I'm hungry, the flight attendant told me there's only 2 meals and they don't serve any food in between. Complete waste of money. Even cathay coach serve hot snacks and noodles. |

What are you talking about? AA does NOT fly HKG-SFO. Are you talking about UA?
I do find the lack of snack strange however, a friend recently brought me the menu shanghai-San fran on UA and they had a mid-flight snack service... |

I think they were talking abut any American airline (generic) rather than American airlines (AA).

I dont know about CX Y, but in CX J and F, the snacks are NOT a meal service. If you want to have snacks you ring the FA. We just returned from a trip to HKG, AA award CX flights J outbound ORD-HKG, F inbound HKG-YYZ. We did not order any snacks on both directions - the dinner meal was plenty enough that we did not feel any need to eat until the 2nd meal service time. The snack items offered on both J and F are identical: 3 kinds of sandwiches, 2 types of Chinese noodle, 1 hot pot rice with preserved meat and veggie. I forgot whether it had soup to go with it or not. I intended to try the noodle or the hot pot rice but had no appetite and did not do it at the end. |
