Lands End Return at Sears for bank check?
A buddy of mine told me he had discovered that you could buy a few thousand dollars worth of Lands End stuff online (using Skymiles Shopping with CC) and then return the items at a Sears store and request a written mailed check through email once the return is processed.
Ignoring all questions of ethics, does this work?? |
If you don't trust the person who told you this, then why do you call them a "friend"
|
The refund will be in the same form as you paid: credit card.

I was trying to prove him wrong and I figured you all were the experts on this stuff.
Thanks! |

Return Internet or catalog orders at a Sears store. Just follow these guidelines •Bring the Lands' End items you wish to return to any Sears® store. •Make sure to bring the original packing slip for the items you wish to return. •You will receive a return confirmation from Sears. Lands' End will then either credit your card, issue a refund check, or send you a Lands' End gift card, as you choose. http://www.landsend.com/customerservice/returns/ Your friend is correct. |

The pleasure of making a return as Sears makes this far from free!
Thanks for posting the idea though. It will work for some! |

So this could be done to meet a CC Spend and possible DL Miles if not claw backed or never credited to begin with. Does shopping at sky miles mall have to be done with a particular type CC . |

Does shopping at sky miles mall have to be done with a particular type CC . I have bought Lands End stuff from Chase Ultimate Reward Mall because of 8x bonus points. Nothing posted after 2 months, not even pending. Chase graciously credited my account with the measly 200 pts missing. I have bought Sears from BA shopping portal on July 29. 5 claims filed later, I still dont see any transaction posted other than the click history that showed up more than 6 weeks after initial purchase. Meantime, the 4x bonus point changed to 1 pt only. Oh, during the change over, Sears completely dropped off the pull down menu of merchants when you try to file a claim... I have bought Sears from IHG's PriorityClub Mall again to test the 8x bonus points - again, nothing shows after almost 2 months now. Not to mention the potential hassle dealing with return stuff to Sears that is not bought from Sears and hope the return info somehow got transmitted to Lands End... Good luck to those who try. You may wound up have a tons of time / effort spent for nothing posted, and then still have to deal with the potential headache to get the refund... On the other hand, Lands End's own CS dept dealing with online purchase is pretty good in case there is issues such as ship-to address mysteriously changed to wrong street number! (Happened to me once). |

Good luck in getting airline shopping portals to post the purchases from any company owned by Sears Holdings.

My only problem is I would probably not want to return the stuff LOL Guess I could buy $1k and return the $800 or so of stuff I might need, want. Just an emergency deadline in meeting a spend thought , not going to make a practice of it . |
