I would tend to agree with all of your posting list here.
I am going to add UA shopping mall to this and anything run by Cartera, who does many of the airline malls. I am beginning to think it is time to only pay attention to the big scores. then again, 1000 little ones IS a big one, is it not? When it works I received a Toys R US bonus 30 Airmiles (equivalent to 300 AE miles) on a $60 purchase, and decided to dump it.. not worth my time.. But on my wife's prescription at Rexall, I'll print out the 500 AE mile coupon.. The prescription is covered by the health plan, and 500 miles earned at the transaction.. |
Naughty United. Next merger: a used car lot.
i just bought some tickets on the UAL web site only to discover that there were only economy plus seats available making the "special" price offered a lie and a come-on. Naughty, naughty United!

Shopping portal through an airline's website....other than groupon , jr and stamps.com, i have never received the 2-10 points per dollar spending and I am too lazy to inquire about the missing miles.

e-rewards comes in first for the hours I spent doing surveys which, after asking 25 or 30 questions, would come back and say I didn't qualify for the survey. It only took me a half dozen or so before I abandoned that site as a scam. The surveyors were gleaning tons of information from me prior to telling me I didn't qualify, and their only obligation was 5 or so points. Prior to that, I'd completed a very lucrative survey (75 points?) and they never credited me with them. Good riddance.
I closed my account today. |
Bought toothpaste at a Uniprix in Montreal a few months ago. Clerk asked if I had an Aeroplan number. I said yes and gave it to her. Next month, 3 miles posted to my AP account.

Feels like Amtrak Guest Rewards can be sometimes. Casual travel (anything under $50 spend) earns you 100 points which take 2-3 weeks to post. Only elites can transfer points to hotel programs. Sleeper redemptions take a lot of points and can take years to earn. I have over 16,000 points in my account earned over 6 years of travel and I'm still well short of my goal of a two zone sleeper reservation.

Citibank's Thank You program for airtravel.
When it first started it was a bargain, adding flown miles plus spend. Quickly I had 120,000 points, redemeed for 3 US_europe awards, did not even pay taxes or feess....remember these were not fare/award inventory controlled! Then they started just to match flown miles with spend, and then they switched to expedia...Outrageously priced redemptions. US-CUN 65,000 points, coach! At that point it died for me! So now I get points for banking for cash gift cards at a terrible redemption rate. Maybe in a year's woth of points I can redeem for $75. Not worth the time! |

How was the special price advertised? On website with a direct link to booking.. perhaps other dates are available at the special price? |
LEAST returns
Let's see:
Canada I bought a $27.99 pizza at Boston Pizza last night. Earned 1 Air Mile. Safeway in Canada now pays 1 Air Mile per $20 in a transaction; no accumulation. Not worth whipping out the card. North America Most hotel chains actual points rewards for nights are pretty sad. I earn far more from credit card spends. Air Canada's Aeroplan amounts on flights: how is that I earn more miles from my credit card for a $400 spend than from Air Canada for a $400 flight? The Winner And, of course, the granddaddy of bad deals: a CIBC Aeroplan mortgage: 1 mile for every $1 in interest. On an interest rate way above what you can easily request. That "free" short haul flight will cost you THOUSANDS. |

Its when you get the bonus miles in product promos that start to add up.. the last 5 times at Safeway I was able to walk out of the store averaging 80 Air Miles on a $35 to $40 spend.. get a credit for 5 cents of per litre on one tank of gas.. use my Amex Gold to get double aeroplan miles in store and at the pump.. |

Touche. Safeway eliminated the accumulation one day. I'm constantly making small purchases at Safeway, and now they no longer result in anything. YMMV with Air Miles; I think you're doing well above average. :) |
