splitting miles accrued

Does anyone know if one can have earned miles deposited to a particular alliance account on an outbound flight and deposited to a different account on the return flight? For example, can I have miles deposited to Continental's onepass account from PDX to LHR and deposited to an Aegean Air account from LHR to PDX. Thanks for any information.

Sure you can. Just make sure that the correct account # is on the boarding pass (do this at check-in or at the gate).

Welcome to FT!

Thanks Bryan, I figured I could do that but had not tried it before. Thanks as well for the welcome.

I once tried to put two different FFP numbers on two connecting flights for a same-day one-way trip. However all miles went to the last airlines' FFP account for that trip. So I guess it should be OK only if the flights are on different dates.

Yes, this can be done.

However, as NONACTIN mentioned, make sure the dates are different. If the first part of your flight, (CO on your case) has not yet been credited to your account PRIOR to your 2nd part of flight (AEGEAN) chances are the whole thing will be credited to AEGEAN.

Thanks for the comments. My trips are generally of sufficient duration that I should be able to insure that the outbound miles are deposited before changing programs for the return. Thanks again to all.

In your particular situation the above-mentioned suggestions work the best, but you can "split the miles" even if your outbound and inbound flight are close to each other - just make sure to have no FF number on your reservation and manually apply for retroactive credit for different portions of the flight with different programs.

Always dangerous. Airlines love to find excuses to deny retroactive credit.
