miles transfer

I am not sure that this is the correct forum but if it isn't I would appreciate it if it would be moved.

I am looking to transfer miles from Delta to Flying Blue.

I realize that they are two different clubs and it can't be done directly. I was wondering if it could be done through a third party like moving it to a something like Points.com, a hotel or other travel based plan, or something else, and then moving it again to Flying Blue.

Of course I know that there may be costs involved in terms of money or miles charged, but if possible it might be worth it to me.

It looks like Flying Blue isn't available on points.com as a trading partner. I don't know offhand of any other program that you can transfer Delta miles to.

What are your travel patterns? Generally speaking, transfering between programs loses lots of value- so don't do it unless you have a very good reason.

I do have a good reason. I am looking for award flights between US and the Middle East and while both airlines are members of SkyTeam there is a definite advantage to Flying Blue but this I found out after pouring tens of thousands of miles into Delta

If I could move my miles I could almost get a ticket even with a "loss" as opposed to having to fly a lot lot more on Delta

I saw that too, and that is why I posted here hoping that the FT experts might have an idea.

Best bet now is to apply for delta amex and cash out the point via amex gift cards.

If you can't afford the credit hit, you can try the ethically questionable method of booking a refundable ticket with points and then go from there.

The Delta Amex is not an option for me, so I am still looking for a swap etc. Thanks anyway
