Any working Points.com signup bonus?
 

I'm looking to signup for points.com and is wondering if there's any current signup bonus with any of the point programs?

I know there used to be like free 100 aeroplan points, or free esso, etc
and requires special links like:

But I scoured the forums and didn't see any current offers.

I don't know of any but I'll also question your desire to do business with points.com. Generally opening an account is the first step in getting screwed by them.

Ya, i know most of there conversion rates are rip off.
But I'm using it to convert Aeroplan to Esso.

For this conversion path:
Aeroplan > Esso > RBC rewards > BA

But want to see if I can get some free points when I sign up for first time.

You need to agree to transfer points at their stated rates. They can't force you to do it. Therefore, I don't see how they can "screw" you. Either you find their rates appealing enough to use, or you don't.

I don't understand this claim either. How can they be ripping you off unless you are forced to use them? What companies offer better ratios, and why not use them instead? If none exist and it would be profitable to do so, why not invest in such a venture?

An uneducated consumer can be ripped off "willingly" by virtue of not knowing any better.

If the definition of "ripped off" is painted so broadly as to include any willing transaction where the consumer hasn't researched the best deal available, then the majority of transactions are rip-offs. Besides, I believe that Points.com has competitive if not the best conversion rates of any company doing the same business (perhaps because they are the only ones in that line of business... or maybe I'm the uneducated consumer here?) In any case, as long as they clearly state their rates, if people see them and decide it's worthwhile, so be it. Rates that don't make sense for most may still make sense for a few, and high prices aren't the same thing as fraud.

The only promo links for joining I've found are for an entry into a sweepstakes.. *yawn*

If they ever offer free miles again for joining, I'll join. If they don't offer any transfer rates I find appealing, I'll happily keep the free miles anyway.

Ya, 19 swagbucks ... that's barely anything (say 15 cents?). The chance to win 1 million Aeroplan would probably be worth more.

Anyway, I found a cash back site that lists:
Buyer receives $0.75 cash-back rebate of each eligible transaction.
Eligible Transaction – a swap transaction of their miles or points into another program.

So not sure if that includes "exchanges" but we shall see.
