Any good posts for UK readers?

Hi all,

I've spent quite a long time reading through loads of posts on this site, however the main problem I'm coming across is that a lot of posts are US specific - particularly relating to Credit Card offers.

The only 2 airline programs I collect towards are BA & BMI. I have 2 AMEX cards (BA PP & Platinum Charge card) and a BMI Mastercard. Obviously I am trying to increase my miles on both these programs and all my spend goes onto these three cards - however I would be willing to take on more credit cards if worth it for the miles.

I've read a bit about card churning, but all the blogs referenced seem to be US based. Are there any current UK credit card promotions that are worth it?

Also, are there any other airline programs that have any good intro offers, with or without a linked credit card?

I do a fair bit of travelling to / from the Middle East (in fact live there), but I usually fly with BA to maximse the benefit to me.

I don't stay in any particular hotel chain very often - I tend to stay in a hotel recommended off tripadvisor!

Anyway, any advice that anyone could give would be appreciated.

Andy

We do seem to get a raw deal....I have stopped looking at these US offers, they just irritate me!!!

I'd also be interested in a sub-thread/heading for UK-based flights/offers and gbp-denomination cards, fwiw.

UK themed topics tend to be found in the BA, BD, VS and UK sections of Flyertalk.

In the American Express Membership Rewards section I try to flag the UK-related threads. However, because the UK version of Membership Rewards transfers to all three of those airlines you also likely to find discussion of offers and strategies in those sections, and often the same approach will work with more than one partner airline.

You should do what I did - move to America. Makes things far easier in the long run.

I too would appreciate a UK subthread. There are clearly a lot of UK members on here and it would be worthwhile for offers such as the recent SPG promo. Also be good to share ideas. Mods?......

Moderators cannot create new forums. That would be the responsibility of the TalkBoard:

Anyone could start and maintain a thread in MilesBuzz titled "Post UK credit card offers here" or similar. It could be modeled after this one:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...er-thread.html

Threads of this type are useful for demonstrating that a new forum is needed.

I'm willing to start a thread off with the offers that I'm aware of. I'll post it up and see what sort of reception it gets. I'm sure there will be LOADS that I miss, so I'll need some assistance, but I'll make a start.

How about something like in CC forum where one can select one of six types such as - question/negotiate when creating a thread. We could add UK, Canada, Australia and US as the options and that way readers could immediately know what to click.
