Does anyone know of a way to get from CHA to GPT for <50,000 miles?

Trying to pulll together a quick trip, CHA to GPT out 7/1 and back 7/4 on Delta or AA. I can't seem to find a way for <50,000 miles which seems to expensive for such a short haul. Makes me think twice if I want to burn 100,000 miles for such a short distance and short length of stay. For 50,000 I could go anywhere in the US.

Hm, the problem is probably (a) small airport to small airport, and (b) July 4th weekend, and (c) booking two weeks out.

Having you tried searching alternate airports? It's not all that far from the New Orleans airport (MSY) to Gulport/Buloxi (GPT), and at your end you might want to search for flying out of BNA or ATL, which seem (correct me if I'm wrong) to be only about a couple hours drive away perhaps.

But I'm not sure if that'll help with your other problems: Trying to book a July 4th weekend award trip at about two weeks out.

In fact, if you look at Delta's calendar for flexible search for ATL-MSY, you'll see that your departure date of July 1 is medium price in miles, and you return date of July 4 is high price in miles!

That's because everyone wants to fly out at the beginning of the July 4th weekend and back in time to return to work on Tuesday! You can't look for a flight, especially only two weeks out, on such popular travel dates and expect mileage redemption amounts to be low.

Remember, "saver" awards (25k round trip) are capacity controlled, which means they tend to be avialable (especially for late bookings) only for unpopular travel dates!

... Btw, Google Maps claims driving time is under 7.5 hours each way (CHA to GPT). If by 100k you mean two people, it's no more expensive for two people to drive than one person. And even though it takes most of the day, if you can leave on 7/1 and come back on 7/4 you'll still have two full days there.

It is very possible that someone on this forum would be able to answer your question, but first you would have to tell us where in the world CHA and GPT are, preferably in your title. Maybe a few have airport codes memorized, but most don't.

I looked it up (that's how I knew both were small cities): CHA is Chattanooga TN and GPT is Gulfport/Biloxi MS.

The even more important thing that the OP left out of the title is "for this July 4th weekend". That's the vital thing that might make this an impossible task. (The way the OP did the title there's no indication it's for a high-demand weekend, nor that it's for just a couple weeks from now.)

Yeah, drive. It's only about 900 miles RT that way.

The problem is Holiday weekend, short notice, and small airports. You might want to consider Labor day weekend or some time in between?
