Where are you getting these flights for that amount? I tried to check award availability and I am only getting options to go through London and cost 180k miles.
Edit: I just figured out to click a different button and now am getting some other options. Still 200k RT with stopover in Tokyo via AA and JL, though. Maybe it's just high season and no availability on CX. |
I recently redeemed 125k Continental miles for a business class ticket from USA to Bangkok in business class. Very low fees, open jaw allowed, and stopover allowed. I'm actually flying to Bangkok on Thai Airways and then returning on United with a stopover in Seoul.

I also just redeemed Continental Miles for business class ticket on Thai -- it is the only airline that flies non-stop from LAX-BKK.
Thai just has business and economy -- they also have "premium economy" (which I would use if buying the ticket), but I can't figure out how to book it with CO or UA miles. I didn't have enough miles in my CO acct, so I topped it off with 12,000 from MR, which posted the next business day. CO Phone agent reserved seat for me (last one available), and I had 72 hours to confirm/finalize. Redemption of MR to Continental is about to expire, so be sure to get the transfer in before it does. Word of warning: I booked my flight about a month ago for late November, but I had to push my departure and return flights back a day each, as the flights I wanted already were unavailable/booked for mile redemption. Final caveat: I am fairly clueless when it comes to this stuff and know FAR less than others on this board. Just wanted to pass along my personal observations, as they seem close to what you are looking to do. |
