Earning EQM miles when bumped to another airline?

I was supposed to fly a two-leg trip from MKE-ORD-DCA last night on AA. Unfortunately, the bad weather cancelled my MKE-ORD flight and so they booked me onto a Frontier flight instead.

I'm shooting to get elite status with AA and originally paid ~$100 extra for this flight as opposed to a cheaper one with Frontier. My question is whether there's any recourse to get EQM/EQS from AA for this, or if I'm just out of luck?

Thanks!

Call them and ask for original routing credit. You shouldn't have that much of a problem.

Then, if you have a Frontier account you can also credit the flight to them. ;)

I have found...

ORC isn't always that easy to come by. Were you delayed to a business meeting with colleagues? If so, be sure to tell them you missed an an important meeting and it was pushed back to the next day. I've always believed that you have to show the airline you were inconvenienced by the switch, because they think they are doing you a favor and the end they are, by getting you where you need to be.

This varies from airline to airline. Since you're asking about AA, check the AA forum - using the Search feature for the phrase "original routing credit" if you don't see an active thread near the top. I'm fairly sure the question has already been asked and answered there.

As for the original routing credit as another person mentioned from the aadvantage desk.

In addition, you can usually get miles (Y) @ 1.5 the rate for the airlines you are bumped to because the new tickets are usually booked as full fare.

My last trip I was bumped from AA to United and got 2.5x the miles I would have normally got split between the two.

Thanks all!

Just called and AA painlessly agreed to give me original routing credit. Thanks all for help! <3 FT
