That's why honestly not trying to be a personal attack to you. !!

Just can't believe others 'believe' the bs being touted on requesting a retraction will succeed when they themselves made the application.

Anyway, we are off topic. The topic is; my sources tell me , not all bonuses are dead.

That's great. Care to share more details about what that really means and what is still alive?

For the record, just completed the spend and tried the bump, was shot down in record time on both 6661 and 6939.

If you were shut down immediately , I would guess Amex has realized it is not right, to tell someone they are getting a promotion applied that is for more than the webpage promotion allows . That is admitting some Serious culpability on their part IMO.

I think many people are missing the fact that there is always a bonus in these promos for signing up. So the Amex reps that answer the phone and tell you a higher MR worth promo is applied , Should be held accountable.

It's not like you tricked someone into something that is not in any way offered, it's like getting a good deal on buying a new car, NOT STEALING IT ,

Angry

So I am resigned that I will not be receiving the 75,000 bonus point, even though I had called back in early August and had the code placed on my card application/account.

However, the appalling customer service at Membership Rewards has been HORRENDOUS. And especially surprising since Amex has always been the stand out in that area - I have been a card member since 1997.

I LITERALLY was hung up on twice. The first time I thought maybe it was my connection (i was in the middle of wanting to "share a customer complaint") - so I called back. And when I started to mention it again, the line disconnected.

I would not believe this if it didn't happen to me. Amex has definitely lost me as a customer. Closing both of my accounts.

Small data point here. My wife signed up for the 15,000 point Premier Rewards card about 5 weeks ago and called to have the 75,000 point code applied which they did at the time. She called back today and they did give her the full 75,000. Good luck.

Has anyone lately been able to stack this with the 10,000 per month bonus for 15 transactions?

My spouse had got 100K points on his biz card through 6608(she didn't get any targeted offer). This was in first week of Sept through a SM. Is there any chance they will take away the points once they are given? If yes, we will like to transfer it to one of our frequent flyer accounts.

I received my 75K bump for the Business Gold Premier Rewards back in August.

My wife applied for the same card in July and called 1-800-AXP-EARN after activating her card and they notated her account with Bonus 6608 and verbally confirmed that she was eligilbe to recieve the 100K points after $2k spend. They asked her to call back after the spend was met and they would post the points to her account.

She recently met the $2K spend and sent SM asking for the points. The reply came more than 24 hours later and Amex is aksing her to call 1-800-AXP-EARN and they wil confirm her "eligibility" for the offer.

I already prepped my wife to fight this tooth and nail should they come up with some excuse to not honor the offer. Not that it matters much, but my wife and I have had several Amex card accounts for several years now and we spend thousands per month on their cards and pay on-time and in full each and every month. We'll see if Amex cares about losing all of our business.

I will report back here later with the results.

data pt - 5894 via SM

Just a data point:

- very early July application w/10k MR
- early August SM to request offer 5894 (75k w/$500 spend for apps 4/1-7/1)
- spend met recently
- single SM copying prior SM offer to request application of 65k difference
- 65k MR posted immediately

10k for 15 purch/mth

Called on this one and it was already on my account. Agent read T&C. Gonna get three months of meeting requirements before calling to request points applied. See if there is a difference between call center and written SM.

Be Nice

Just a last reminder to be kind to your Amex representative. If your results are not going in the right direction it's better to thank them and try again. If you dig in your heels you're more likely to get a note to your account that limits the success of future contacts on the same issue.

Also, after a good result I always make sure to send one final SM thanking the agent for their help, telling them how what they did will solidify my loyalty with Amex and emphasizing how they've made a difference for me.

Most agents really do want to help you. It's good karma to be nice.

Yeah, I am always super nice and chat it up with the reps and almost always end up getting a positive result.

My wife used to always be on edge and a bit harsh when calling in to make special requests like this. Looking for things to argue about instead of using her charming personality to make the rep "want" to help her.

I have since taught her the value of establishing a good rapport with whomever she is speaking with, regardless of the situation. I think she actually enjoys the great feeling after completing an amicable call ending in a positive result, especially when it involves tens of thousands of points

The resluts of my wife's call to Amex:

"They are saying it will take 6-8 weeks to post after spend was met. Corporate office is not allowing reps to handle reward points anymore or be able to look at it in the system. He kept saying " as long as you were solicited and properly enrolled" with some rsvp code that was received in the mail the points will post."

...? Anyone have any suggestions on what she should do next? Looks like waiting 6-8 weeks will result in no points considering she was not targeted for any specific offer.

Unless you have an SM where they promised her the points for 6608 I think you're SOL

Data point:

I had my Business Gold notated for 6499 75k through SM in July, two days later I called instead of SMing to have them put 6608 on my Business Gold instead.

Fast forward to this week, they would not honor 6608 but they did honor 6499 because I had an SM promising me the points. When I tried calling for the extra 25k for 6608 the MR rep said no dice, because I didn't have proof that I was promised the points.

Well, I have taken this to the next level.

Not gonna post any more details on what I did until I see what kind of result we get.

It's one thing to not honor the points. It's another thing for AMEX to claim there is no written proof for offers that were notated. Notated = written proof. For them to claim otherwise borders on an integrity issue.
