Citi can use Am Ex logo as a result of a class lawsuit. There are now a few banks issued Am Ex logo cards but they have 0 relationship with AMEX other than the logo and the fact the transactions are processed by Amex network. Hence whatever the procedures you observed from your Citi AA "Am Ex" does NOT have ANY bearing to the AMEX. AMEX has both Charge Cards and Credit Cards. They do not operate the same ways. Folks do not have AMEX Charge Cards before are often confused on how the Membership Reward points work in term of when they are released. In general, it does take 8 weeks before you see your Membership Reward points in the normal procedure without expedition. (manual intervention).
Even AMEX Charge Cards have different procedures in posting points than the Credit Cards.
The Premier Gold / Plat are CHARGE Cards while the popular SPG and HHonor and JetBlue and Delta and Blus Cash and .... are Credit Cards.
Major difference between the 2 types.

Does anyone know what happens to the normal purchases made through the gold card? I mean when does the MR points show up (either as pending or posted)? I do have pending 75k points (since I've not paid the account yet) but I do not see any other points on my account for the normal purchases I made.

I think the confusion you have comes from many posts ago. I have the DL Am Ex (which is an Am Ex) that shows a points total on the Am Ex statement. I also have the Citi AA "Am Ex", which is really a Citi card (and it shows a "points" summary on the Citi statement). I understand that. I know that other CC providers can use the Am Ex logo.
And yes, I know the difference between charge cards and credit cards. Please do not belittle me.
My question was should my PRG card show a "points" section on the statement like my DL Am Ex statement does. Forgive me if I haven't had a MR account before, so I'm just trying to clarify.

Received this offer in the mail today for $500 spend within first three months. This offer is good until May 20, at least for me. It contains a unique RSVP code, but the bonus offer number is 5894. I have never had a traditional AMEX (only the Citi AA AMEX) so I am not sure how the RSVP thing works, but you may be able to call and ask if you can still get it. I had received a bunch of 50K offers via mail prior to this, but never pulled the trigger. I am thinking 75K is probably worth pulling the trigger on, even though I have recently signed up for Cap1, and both AA cards.

Only when they become available. They would not show if they are in pending stage, but you can see the points in your MR account online as which stage they are in under the details tab. Also if they are in pending the previous statement cycle but are still in current statement cycle, you would have to scroll back a period to see them.

Thanks for the info MaineFlyer! I just activated my AMEX PRG card and called MR customer service. She looked up the code and checked to see if I qualified. She noted that it was "targeted" so she put me on hold to make sure that wouldn't be a problem. When she came back she said that after I met the $500 spend, I would get the 15K from my original offer and then 6-8 weeks later I would have to call back and they would manually enter the other 60K. Do you happen to remember if the first year $175 annual fee was waived?

Sent SM to MR on 8/15 asking for offer ID 6661. Mentioned being a longtime cardmember (no current charge cards but member since 1990).
Received reply on 8/15 saying 6661 was linked to my account. Initial 15k bonus points would be posted 6-8 weeks after spend, remaining 60k after I met spend, write back after I meet spend.
Send SM to MR on 8/29 after meeting spend.
Received reply on 8/29 noting that 60k points would be posted to my account immediately.
8/29: 60k points posted (PRG 1K spd/ 75K MR pts)
8/30: 10k points posted (PRG-10k bonus pts w/$1K spend)
8/31: 15k points posted (PRG $1K spnd / 15K MR pts)
I seem to have gotten an extra 10k points, we'll see if that sticks.

Just wanted to update on my personal situation:
-Received card 8/17, met 1k threshold and called CSR on 8/24.
-Was told 6661 would applied in 6-8 weeks. Requested that the points be expedited, was told to call back on 8/27, because points would not even show as pending until then.
-Paid my bill in full on 8/30. Noticed that 10k and 15k points were pending and got slightly nervous that I wouldn't be getting 75k at all.
-After reading some recent posts about 6661 not being honored I decided to test the waters with an SM today. Basically explained that I would like to use the points for travel in the near future and was hoping they could expedite the 75k that I was told would be applied to my account.
-Received a great response from what appeared to be an offshore resource in about 3 hrs:
"Since you have already met the spend threshold of $1,000, I have gone ahead and issued the remaining 50,000 points towards offer id 6661."
So 75k points pending. All in all a good result, pretty impressed by their service.

Just got my 75,000 points offer code last night!
I applied for the Gold Premier AXP card hoping to get a 50K bonus similar to an offer a friend received. When I applied over the phone i was told that w/o the invitation # that I couldn't get that offer. I proceeded with the app anyway and hit up the internet to find out more about the offer.
After reading this thread, I called MR and got the 75K bonus offer applied to my account after I received my plastic. I used 6661 and the agent was happy to assist. I was advised that it takes up to 8 weeks to get the points after the spend threshold is reached. So happy!!
