For anyone else wondering - I referred 2 friends just a couple days ago for the AMEX PRG personal card, they both receive the cards today and called for the bump the bonus. I coached them through it, and sat with the one as he waited and waited on hold. She asked for the reference # and he said he didn't have it, but she put the code on his account for 75k!
Then my other friend called me and said he got the bump the bonus (code 6661) in 30 seconds on the phone!
DON'T GIVE UP, B/C A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE STILL HAVING SUCCESS, EVEN APPLYING NOW!!
I can refer you and help if you want. PM me your name/email.

biz link
is this the correct biz card to apply for?
http://www262.americanexpress.com/bu...d/?revised=new
I'm going to apply for the biz and try to apply the 6678 after approval, but want to make sure that it's the right one.
This link has a 10k min. spending to get 50k points, so if I call and get 6678 applied, the terms of 6678 will completely replace the original one that I applied for, correct?

I just got shot down via SMS. Should I try again when I get the card in the mail and I call to activate? Or should I send a followup SMS? Please let me know. Thanks

I would probably just call then. It seems like the email team in India only knows the word no. They had been very generous before. I know you'll get the bump but it may just take some time. Are you telling them after you applied you discovered a better offer for 75K and would have signed up for that had you known? Thats what I said but it may not make a difference. Are they telling you why they won't give you the better offer?

Little help here? I just received and activated online, then called to get the bump to 6661, was rejected. The rep kept asking me how I got the bonus code, I played dumb and just said I'd been referred. In the end she said that code was something I had to input when I was applying for the card and there was no way to apply it to my card.
What to do? Keep calling and hope for a more sympathetic rep? What should I say when they ask me how I got the code? I guess I need some coaching
Oh... also, does it make a difference what number I call? I just called the number on the back of the card and went to 'representative,' 'general question'

I applied for PRG on 8/21, received the card today, called in and asked for code 6939. She applied it. 75,000 points for $1,000 in spend in the first three days. She said points wouldn't show up until 8 weeks after completing the spend.

Did you ask or request them to apply it. I guess some people here, including myself, have trouble with what to say to the reps

Like the other poster asked, could you tell us what you said to request it? Thanks

What I said is after I applied, I learned from a coworker that there is a better offer that gives 75K points for spending $1,000 and I thought I should receive the same offer. Then I said the Bonus ID is XXXX. I think it will help if you can tell them definitively where you saw the better offer.

The particular rep you get will matter also. I suggest you be as pleasant as possible, don't be impatient nor cort with any of the reps you converse with. I applied and called within minutes, no card even in hand, and very nice and generous rep added both codes to the account and assured me three times throughout our pleasant talk that it was noted and dated for referral back if I needed. During the entire conversation, it paid to be patient, courteous, and professional. First and only call did the trick.
Having part time telemarketing experience my freshman year a couple of decades ago taught me a lot about what it's like to be on their end sitting with a phone in your ear all day "churning" calls. Good luck.

I said something like "I understand there's a promotion for 75,000 points, code 6939 and I was hoping you could apply that to my account."
The key seems to be getting the right rep and using the right code. I

One more data point
Applied for PR Gold personal card on 8/21, received and activated card on 8/27 in mail, called MR on 8/28 to apply code 6939 for 75,000 bump. Was told I should see the 75,000 points in my account 6-8 weeks after spending $1000.
