Mooper, FWIW I applied for two cards (1 for the wife) on August 14th, got the cards on Monday August 22nd and got the bump for code 6661 applied. I think you can get the card expedited if you call AMEX after applying - perhaps you can get the card by Friday and call MR and get the bump.

I applied 8/15 for both PRG and Biz Gold and was approved. Called very same day (early afternoon), requested expediting of cards, received on 8/16.

Dear FlyerChrisK,

I sincerely apologize for the significant delay in responding to your email due to unusually high volume of inquiries.

Regrettably we are unable to extend the 6661 offer to you as this offer is by solicitation only. Please understand that not all offers can be honored for all Cardholders as they may have applicable terms and conditions that do not apply as such.

I understand that this may be disappointing to you; however, you can expect to see various promotions throughout the year for which you may be eligible. Our intent is to provide offers that will appeal to various interests and different types of people.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to assisting you in the future.

Sincerely,

Account Manager Email Servicing Team
That said, I'm in the market for a working code. Do any of the ones discussed on this thread actually work now?

My wife and I got 6661 successfully applied last week by calling, but had to call several times. SM attempt was shot down, as expected. I'm wondering specifically if NEW applications as of today - for example, if I refer a friend or family member to apply - will still be able to get 6661 to work by calling. From what I can tell, it seems so, but I'm looking for the most recent data points to determine. Thanks again for your input... you should give a call (or several) and see if that works for you.
I'm not sure any one bit of advice is one-size-fit-all. This whole Amex MR application scheme is just one giant clusterfluck inside Amex with one hand not knowing what the other hand is offered, which makes this YMMV for getting bonus promo codes added. I had the exact same timeline as FlyerChrisK above (applied last week, 8/16, got the card in the mail yesterday, sent SM last night). However here is the complete 180 degree response I got to my SM compared to the above FTer:
Dear gregorygrady,

Congratulations for your new Premier Rewards Gold Card and for enrolling in to our Membership Rewards Program!

I am happy to assist you with your request.

As requested, I have linked bonus id 6661 to your Premier Rewards Gold Card account.

I wish to inform you the criteria of this promotion. It states: "Non-Cardmembers were sent an offer to apply for the Premier Rewards Gold Card and earn 75,000 Membership Rewards bonus points after spending $1,000.00 within the first three months of Cardmembership.

Bonus points will be credited to the Cardmember's Membership Rewards program 6 - 8 weeks after they spend $1,000.00 on the new Card within the first three months."

Therefore, I request you to meet the spend and inform us. I see your Card account is already enrolled for card bonus. We will therefore, issue the remaining points to your account once you meet the spend.

I hope this is to your satisfaction. Please contact us for further assistance on your account!

Sincerely,

BTW, this is after I had called in twice to request they add 6661 to my acct. First time I asked the application line. Second time I called the CS # on the back of my card. Third time I tried to call MR but they were closed for the night so I sent a SM instead. Both my first 2 calls were rejected, saying this offer was ONLY for NEW cardholders. I told them I am a new Amex PRG holder but they didn't see it the same way. I also asked about 6664 (10k bonus per month for 15 transactions, for 5 months) on the phone calls, but I was rejected for those as well. So anyways, the whole deal is YMMV. I also had success adding 6608 to my Biz Gold last night, but I will post that in the Amex Biz thread.

FWIW, I steered away from this whole Amex application thing for a couple months since I assumed they would yank this offer back and with my luck I would be stuck in the middle. After seeing it still working for a couple months, I finally pulled the trigger last week and applied through FrugalTravelGuy's link. Then just yesterday I read on his blog that this stopped working due to some new software, and I'm seeing more common occurances of FTers getting rejected when trying to add bonuses, so quite honestly I was a little worried. Luckliy I read somewhere that you could have them close your acct and RETRACT hard pull on your credit report as long as you were within 30 days of the application, so I figured no harm no foul I just would have done that if they stopped this gravy train between when I applied and when I called to add the bonus. Luckily I didn't have to. Great offer/deal, especially since I've always wanted to get in on the Amex MR program, but never had enough incentive. This pushed me over the edge, and I'm glad it did cuz MR looks like a great program. Now if I could only get the 6664 promo added for 10k MR bonus pts per month for 15 transactions!!! ^ Wonder if I should keep trying or should give up and be content with what I've got?

Canada?

I know it's a long shot, but any chance I could apply any of these codes to an AMEX gold card in CANADA?

Thanks!

What is the current thinking? Thanks.

Just went for the 6608 on the Biz Gold. "Sorry, that offer expired on 8/16." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! I'll have to call back... Will edit this post as necessary.

In my case it's been the exact opposite. Approved instantly for the bump the bonus through SM for both the personal & business versions of this card in July... Plus, then I have the messages in writing in case there's ever issues later (which there hasn't).
Also got my points expedited through messaging in one try, and I don't have to wait on hold.
+1 for SM for me

Ive been told to piss off in no uncertain terms. I told them I will be taking my business elsewhere.

Can I close my account, and pull the credit file from my CC?

I called and the agent I spoke to added the bonus to my account. He said that the points might not post automatically, so he added a notation to my account. Total call length: 3 minute, 56 seconds.

It should be fun to see if the points post.

Agreed. Ordinarily, I've been staying clear of all of this bonus bumping lately, but the prospects of stacking bonuses (6661/6664) on this card looked pretty good. I'm hesitant to stack another promo on this card until I have the 75k MR points in hand, so I might burn through the spending requirement in the next day or two with gift cards or something similar.

Can you do any type of GC in particular ?

I had to make a friend beg a supervisor to allow cash cards @ Costco not charged to the members card.
What type do you use, as I am expecting another 8k for some new cards, and like to do the spend ASAP.

TIA

Without taking this thread too far off course, as long as it's not a cash advance, I'm fairly indifferent to what gift card I get. Most of my gift card purchases this year have been for AA gift cards at Costco, letting me meet spending requirements earlier while saving 10% with AA on purchases that I would have made anyways.

Quickly OT . Can you use any card you want at Costo. I thought member has one Amex card linked and only one .

AA as in American airlines gift cards. Sorry today my first time at Costco

I hope the 500 cash card at Costco did not count as a cash advance on my Amex?
TIA

Just wondering why everyone acts like Frugal Travel Guy's post is worrisome even slightly. He wrote what someone told him, who I believe referenced what a CSR told him. These are the same CSRs you just mentioned that don't know what one hand is doing. It's all just rumors. If Amex wanted to make sure we were targeted for the offer they would require the RSVP code that goes out with new offers. Don't you agree? In sure it will come to that soon but until they start asking for the RSVP I don't think anyone has anything to worry about.

Made $1000 spend. Asked via SM to have points expedited, was told by Indian "Manager" that he does not even see the notes (I gave him dates and everything). I called MR, they said the notes are there. So....???? This Indian-named "Manager" (P***j A***d) has been replying to all of my emails (except those addressed to Social Media - Twitter team) this past month, shooting down every request I have, almost verbatim in each email too. Wonder if it's because I always sent them late in afternoon/at night or I'm on their radar or something....

Do note that you should sign out of your american express account before applying for a new card (and, probably best to just fill out the app without telling them you already have a card to expedite the application). With certain cards, e.g., the PRG, you will get an error screen when you click on the link when already signed in. I've fallen into that trap before when my blog's readers were getting error messages and I trouble shot it to this issue.

I have the full procedures in one place on my blog: http://www.freetravelgenius.com/amex-premier-75k/ though feel free to substitute another link or a referral from a friend. The rest of the procedure should be the same.
