Speaking of SMs -- has anyone sent an SM to Amex over the last couple weeks and gotten a response within 10 hours? It's starting to turn into a joke.

I did, yesterday, inquiring about the $75 K points. Here is the reply I received - this Customer Service Rep. gets two thumbs up for being so pleasant

"You will be glad to know that, I have manually linked your Card with Bonus offer ID 6661, where-in your will earn 75,000 after spending $1,000.00 in the first three months of Card membership.

Please know that 15,000 Membership Rewards bonus points will be issued automatically after spending $1,000 in the first 90 days of Cardmembership. Once these 15,000 bonus points are issued to your rewards account, please write back to me and I will issue the difference of 60,000 bonus points manually to your account.

For your assurance, I have noted your account with the above mentioned information.

I hope this is to your satisfaction and also brings a smile to your face.

Have an excellent day ahead!"

Right after you log on you should see a line that says "You have 0 new messages". Click on the zero and take it from there

All of my SM's take 24 hours now and the reply is ALWAYS from a "Manager". I think they're rerouting all my SM's to a Manager! I better stop e-mailing them for a while.

Right, but then you have to select who to send the message to (Subject and Category). Do you recall which drop-down options you chose?

100k Sign Up Bonus for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card Works!

I was just approved for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card (not the business card) and the customer service rep at the Membership Rewards desk added the 100k bonus ID to my account and notated what she did without any issues.

Also, I asked her to add the bonus Id to add additional card members (at no fee) and receive 10,000 bonus MR points after first use. She added that code as well. The rep could not have been more helpful.

I debated just sticking to the 75k bonus ID but decided to try for the 100k bonus ID and it worked. I'm assuming, based on all the posts on FlyerTalk and other travel blogs that it's hit or miss depending on the rep you get when calling into the Membership Rewards desk. You can always call back if the first rep isn't helpful!

A quick recap of what to do:

I applied for the American Express Premier Rewards Gold Card through The Points' Guy's website using his referral link: http://www.thepointsguy.com/go/premierrewards. The original offer is for 15k bonus points for signing up. Once I was approved I called the Membership Rewards desk at 1-800-297-3276 and asked them to add the following bonus IDs:

Bonus ID 6608 - 100,000 MRs bonus points for spending $2,000 in the first three months.

Bonus ID 5721 - 10,000 MRs bonus points for each additional card holder added to the account after they make one purchase with their card. Keep in mind there is no fee for additional card holders with this card and you don't have to give American Express their social security number. Simply their name and DOB will do. You can read about this deal here:

Make sure the Membership Rewards person adds notes to your account with each bonus ID just to be safe in case you need to call back later with any issues.

Pretty certain it was Membership Points balance or similar to it

I just got a response similar to what Libra7474 received. I chose Membership Rewards, Point Balance, for my drop down options. It took maybe 12 hours for a response, but I also sent it late last night.

Your account may be notated but you may have problems when time comes to collect the points. Good luck

Your spend is 2000 in the first three months? I can't remember the code I used, but it only requires I spend 1000 in the first three months.. Still not a bad deal!

On another note: I'm fairly new to this whole travel hacking thing but I've heard AMEX is good at following through once your account has been noted. How has your experience been with them honoring their notations?

Sorry, this has probably been answered 1,000 times already but if I already have a Business Gold Reward card with the 75k for 1k spend offer, can I still apply for this personal card and ask to get 6661 applied via SMS/phone?

If so, what is the success rate for people getting 6661 added after signing up for a regular offer (i.e. 15k instant).

Denied the 75k bump with code 6661

On 8/20 I sent a SMS requesting the bump to 75k with code 6661. I received the following email back:

"Unfortunately, the offer you have indicated in your email is not available to existing Cardholder's.

We have various promotions throughout the year for loyal Cardmembers like you, which you would receive by mail or email from us. You can also find offers you are eligible for when you’re logged in to your account.

We thank you for your Cardmembership, and look forward to continuing to serve you in the future."

Has anyone else been denied the bump? Should I call in or send another SMS? And if I call, what number is best to use?
