From what I read, no one has reported applying for a gold card (10K or 25K) after 8/1 and then received the approval for bump to 75K correct? I posted an update earlier but that was before July end.

Hi all, I've been a 'lurker' for a long time. Today I decided would be good to signup and start sharing my many data points. I'm starting with the card that I applied for, got instant approval for, and bonus bumped for today.

I applied for the 15k $1000 spend PRG card and got instant approval (https://www304.americanexpress.com/p...-97-0/0/0/0/n/)
An hour later I called 800-297-3276 and spoke to an agent who checked 4 different codes for me:
5894: 75k 500 spend, expired
5985: 75 k 1000 spend, expired: must have received approval by August 1, 2011. I was on vacation this last week and missed this offer due to staggering applications, etc.
6608: wrong card, n/a
but the one that worked was: 5970 which is like the old deal for 50k with a $500 spend in 3 months. It's valid from April 2011 through April 2012.

My information is as complete as I could make it.

Thanks for the update. So you are set to get 50K additional points when they applied 5970? Or 50K total which would mean 35K additional points for you?

50k points total. 35 additional, hence my dismay at missing the August 1st deadline for the 75k. But I don't mind too much, considering the wealth of other points I've received this year. I'll post in some other threads when I get the chance!

If I refer a friend for the PRG gold card to get the 10k referral bonus, would that affect their ability to get the 75k or 50k point bump themselves?

Applied on 8/1 and approved. Would code 5985 work for Aug 1? Not sure if Aug 1 is the deadline or was it 7/31?

For those of you having gotten the personal PRG and business Gold cards, how many AMEX cards (charge or credit, personal or business) did you already have prior to applying?

Asking coz I already have 3 personal credits, 1 personal charge, and 1 business credit card with AMEX. Wondering if I should push my luck with two more.

Also, income ranges would also be helpful. Thanks!

Go ahead and re-apply. I had the PR gold card in 2007 (50K bonus to sign up), converted it into a Platinum card in 2008 (another 50K bonus) and then canceled in 2009. I have applied for and received MR bonus points for the PR gold and Platinum cards again this summer.

5985 code expried on 8/1 ($ will need to be spent by 8/1). Call MR to sweet talk to them. Sometime, you will be lucky to get a friendly MR to help you

I am confused. $ will need to be spent by 8/1 or approval must be gotten by 8/1. I was approved on 8/1 and did not get card yet, thus no spend yet.

Mine was approved 7/29. I PMed Amex to add the 5985 code on 8/2 and got the affirmative response.

"we will honor this bonus ID on your account.

I referred my brother through the same 10k referral link and he was able to apply and get approved successfully. Like myself and many others here, he called into the MR desk before activating to get the "75k/$500 spend/1st year fee waived" offer noted on his account.

That being said, I haven't received the 10k referral points.
