Persistence Paid Off-will get my 75k points

Hello everyone,

First post from a compulsive reader of the forum who's going to London and Paris for 2 weeks in October for free thanks to all of the great advice I found here.

Anyway, I saw this thread Monday night, knew I was late to the party but gave it a try. Got instant approval for Premier Gold, immediately wrote a secure email referencing offer #5894. Denied. Repeated Tuesday. Denied. This a.m. I sent a third email this time referencing offer #5985. 4 hours later I received an answer saying they'd be happy to add the 60k points after I do the spending. Hooray!

So take the advice of the earlier poster and don't give up! Amex is amazing. Now to get the deal for my husband...

I just sent a secure message informing AMEX of myself hitting my spend requirement. They replied back within 2hrs saying that they have passed the points onto me but I might not see them until my statement closes in 2 weeks.

I would secure message them, then call. They may tell you you have the points just doesn't show up online.

Immediate success to add 50k points to 25k offer

Hi All,

I applied for a card for my husband using the link in post #864 a few hours ago, got approved instantly, wrote email asking for additional points as soon as I got the approval email and just got a Yes response. Seems like the happy crew is on today at Customer Service.

How do you send a secure mail without receiving the card and activating it? From existing account?

Email before you get card

I had the same question and read on an earlier post that if you have any Amex card registered for online access you will see in the upper right corner above the "Manage your Account" box a letter symbol and a message re you have mail or you have no mail. Click on the message and you can send an email. Per instructions from an earlier post choose from the drop down Subject list "Membership Rewards Program" and Category "Program Info and Definitions". I used the text someone else posted and referenced the information from the approval email re Card#, Ref #.

I recently received approval for an Amex Gold Premier Rewards Card (#xxxxx, reference #xxxxx. It seems there were several different offers going around when I submitted my application. I think I applied under the offer for 15,000 membership rewards points after $1,000 in purchases in the first three months. Would you be able to add offer # 5895 (75,000 membership rewards points after $500 in purchases) to my account instead as a one-time courtesy for a new Amex cardholder?

Dont give up. It took me two phone calls and two secure messages to get mine expedited. It helps to pay off your balance as well and include that in your note if you havent done so already.

Thanks. That is pretty much what I had done. The trouble is, the first drop box is the list of credit cards, so you have to pick the existing card and not the new one, and refer to the new card in the email. In any case, I was shot down the first time for my biz card. Time to try again, I guess.

How long is the lag between paying off the statement and see the points in your account? I got an email saying I had received some points, but they haven't show up in my account yet.

Hi,

Thanks for all the help by everyone, I got one last question.

I just spend my $1000.00, so should I pay it first then send the SM to get my 65k points or ask them before I pay so they can see the 1,000 bill on my account? I dont want to make me wait 6-8 weeks for the 65k points.

Thanks

To expedite the points, I sent a SM to the Membership Rewards category and explained that I had already reached the spend, and paid the bill early to show that I am a good customer and in good standing with AMEX. I also mentioned that I needed the points expedited because I had certain travel plans and I wanted to transfer the points to British Airways before July 31st to take advantage of the 50% bonus transfer option before the period ended.

I don't think there's any fancy wording or anything needed when you message them. Just be honest, and if at first you don't succeed, try try again.

I received my points today and haven't paid the bill yet. I hit the $1000 spend about 2 days ago. Also sent the secure email to them to get the extra 50K, and those posted today as well.

Ask them now. See my post above this one. Got the original 25K, sent the secure email and got the extra 50K all in about 4 hours.
