Unfortunately, Amex's 10 hr response SLA (which they have been nowhere close to hitting for me recently) drags this process out.
Thanks! My partner got it the third time (applied for 10k offer on July 7, instant approval). First rejection was from Florida stating that it was targeted, second was from India stating that the offer had expired, and third time was an approval from India.

So, there is still a chance for promotion code 5894 even if you applied for the card after July 1.

Fyi, the messages were sent to Membership rewards - Program info and definitions.

When did you send both the unsuccessful and successful messages?

All were sent in the morning (West Coast). The unsuccessful were sent Friday and Saturday. The successful was sent Sunday.

secure message

How would I send a secure message if I do not currently have a login with amex? This is my first amex card. I got instant approval and an email with the last 5 digits of the acct number saying I would receive the card within 7-10 days. I wanted to message them to ask for the point increase asap. I reached out to their twitter account (@AskAmex) and they said it wasn't possible to send a SM without a login. I was just wondering if anyone had any other ideas. Thanks!

You can call them to ask for your card to be expedited, but IME, it's not worth it. Just wait a few days and get your card, then establish your online account. It won't kill you to wait

(I already had an Amex delta converted to blue sky, but never had a membership rewards card).
It really is a Luck of Draw depends on whom you get and even if you are promised, HOW the points are posted - there is a huge inconsistency on how this is being handled.

There are some not so lucky folks have to try several times to get the match but it seems eventually most did get it.

Keep trying and good luck.

When I called about the Delta Skymiles card recently she said she could offer me $50 statement credit or 7,500 Skymiles. That's much better than 2k SPG points I'd say.
UPDATE:

2nd secured email successfully received $50 statement credit, but the SPG bonus points are made to stay.

BOTH the $50 statement credit AND 2000 SPG points show up in their corresponding accounts today.

Not a single word about cancellation in the SMs. On first SM I just said the Annual Fee now at $65 is a bit steep comparing to my other hotel cards. Would AMEX issue some bonus points or statement credit to help out? I would really appreciate the goodwill gesture. On second SM I said the 2K SPG pts is disappointing because husband received $50 statement credit. Could AMEX up the offer to at least match?

It seems to me with AMEX you do need some persistence and their reps seem to have quite a bit of leeway to do things.

Her offer did indeed note that she needed to spend $1000 in the first three months but the reply I received from Amex acknowledged that I only needed to spend $500 in the first three months of being a card member and that the remaining 25K points would be credited to my account once I (1) reach the $500 spending threshold and (2) contact Amex via the secure e-mail to let them know to apply it to my account. I would be happy to post the e-mail I sent and the reply I received if anyone is interested.
Is there any expiration date for this bonus ID# 5985?

Okay I thought I was good to go after I got bumped up, but now I see that the continental transfer option is expiring at the end of September. That's only an issue if it really takes 6-8 weeks for points to post, and then after that I have to SM them for the remainder. So seeing as how my statement ends at the end of July, that could conceivably be into October before I see all the points.

How likely is it that it really takes 6-8 weeks for points to post?

I don't think so. Give it a shot.

not likely.

How it works it seems the offer's own bonus, be it 10K or 25K, shows up as "earned" immediately after you meet the spend requirement. Then you can ask for the release of the bump up. At this stage it depends on your luck whether the 75K are made immediately available so you can use them, or they are made "pending for transfer" then you would have to wait for next statement cycle. Meanwhile pay off your balance and ask the expedition again... Chances are the total would be available long before Sept 30.

Thanks for the clarification Happy! Even if it's delayed a month that's okay (until beginning of September). I'm not going anywhere soon, but I definitely want those MR points converted to Co/United miles before the offer expires.

I applied for the Citi 75k Amex personal card on 7/2/11 and was instantly approved. Can I go ahead and apply for the Amex PR Gold card now or do I have to wait? I have never been a MR member.

Citi AMEX has nothing to do with American Express other than using the transaction processing network of American Express.

These are 2 different banks.
