It did the exact same thing to me. I applied and it was approved. I called MR and said I was having trouble. I applied for a 75K point offer but the page switched to 10K when I attempted to apply but had offer 5894. She said my account had a 25K point offer associated with it but once I met the conditions she would manually apply 50K bonus points (which I got Sat). So the application actually did work for the 25K. Not sure what type of cookies they have. I had to use a different computer to apply for my wife.

Did you call AMEX card side or the MR side?

I had AMEX biz gold card long time ago and MR account did not come automatically - had to set it up with some steps. I also had trouble getting the full 30K pts of bonus signed up for, even with both phone and secured email confirmation. (it was a targeted offer with paper work no less!). When the pts not showing up after 3 billing cycles I called AMEX the card side. I told the phone rep I had email confirmed the bonus, the phone rep literally said to me, then reply the email instead of calling us! I was like ?!?! At the end it was a supervisor at MR side to "push" the 30K to my account. The whole experience left very bad taste in my mouth.

Hence I am reluctant to go for this card.

I said called but I meant secure messaged to MR - Points Balance. It was really simple and took just one email. Of course this deal takes a leap of faith.

Thumbs up

Worked for me. Have not completed spending, but CSR through secure mail told me she would manually add the extra points (signed up for 30,000) after the initial points post. Used 5894.

Yay for asking.

What is the normal posting time for the points? I met my spend and the cycle closed June 14th, and I paid the balance. Should I ask for an expedited posting of the points?

Did you send the message after you received and activated your card? I just applied and was approved today for the 25k offer. Should I wait before calling or sending a message till my card arrives? Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification.

Does the MR account activate all by itself once you have the card? Or you still have to "enroll" the MR account?

In the past the MR account also has an annual fee but I suppose now it is free?

Yes, this deal requires far more faith than the Citi AAdvantage cards which as long as the original urls remain active, miles posted w/o any intervention.

It's marketed as the Premier Rewards Gold so it's all setup with MR. Plus, the Gold doesn't make you ineligible for the Platinum with another huge bonus.

@Alex - I have online access with Amex so I wrote them an hour after applying and gave them the reference number from the email confirmation. I heard back just hours later from the overseas office.

Overall, this deal was absolutely painless! 75K free miles!

If you read a few pages of this thread, you will notice that people give the code # for the original promo in which most CSR's noted on the account. So yes, the offer expired in terms of the website but no in terms of CSR agents accepting the code #.

I went ahead and sent a PM, I am thinking about doing the BA transfer for 50% bonus.

I asked something about "could I possibly receive my 75K MR points now since I have upcoming travel plans". I had called shortly after activating to get a note on file about the 75K points.

Here is the reply:

Dear MJLouise,

As per the promotion associated with your Card, you were eligible to receive 10,000 bonus points after your first purchase.

These 10,000 points were credited to your account on 05/26/11.

As a gesture of good customer relations, I have matched the better offer (Bonus Id:5894) and credited the balance 65,000 bonus points to your account.

You now have 77,239 available points.

I hope I was able to assist you to your satisfaction.

I trust I have exceeded your expectations with this e-mail and look forward to continuing to serve you.

Sincerely, S. [South Asian name if that makes a difference] Email Servicing Team American Express Interactive Services

Before you click on that you may want to clear all cookies. If it does come up with 25K, apply immediately because at least on my computers, when I attempted to go back to that offer, it reverted to the 10K although I had it bookmarked. I went to a different computer and typed it in and it came up correctly. I hope it works for you!
I would most appreciate knowing where you found this link. Thanks much.

Good question. I'm not sure really. I bookmarked it at some point but I really have no clue when I did. Why?

My luck hasn't been good so far. Shot down twice, once by secure message, once by phone. In fact, on the phone, as soon as I mentioned a better offer, she immediately wanted the RSVP code, even before asking about a promo code. I offered up the promo code but no go.

I received the card today but have not activated. I guess I will try secure message again.

success deux fois

indeeed!

Applied for the 10k after 1st purchase premier rewards gold amex card, one for me by phone, (also have a delta gold skymiles card) and once for my wife applied for online.

1st try phone call sucessss:

received both cards recently, made one purchase on mine, me wife's card has been activated but no purchases made. called the MR number this evening, and asked for the bonus offer 5984 to be applied to my account. customer rep looked up the offer, asked how many miles is it? "75k after 500$", "ok your account is noted, if miles dont post in 6-8wks after spending 500$ then give us a call." then asked i asked to also have offer applied to my wife's account. rep spoke to my wife to confirm identity and her account was noted as well.

i shall post a follow up as soon as MR points have been posted to both accounts.

thanks to all previous posters and OP.
