Not quite. $1 spent on airfare equals 1MR point+2MR bonus points for airfare+0.5MR bonus upon reaching $30k threshold=3.5MR points/$. With DL's promo, it becomes 5.25 skymiles/$ + 25k MQM. Still a great deal, and better than you'd find doing much else, but not quite as great as you originally figured it to be.

Well, I took the plunge and was approved for the 10k after first purchase card. Should I wait until I receive the card and activate to send a message? Also, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should craft my message?

It's their entire personal CC program, yes coming dead for me too. Probably they are just fixing things up which at the end can't really be that good.

Just wanted to add another data point that this technique works in general with Amex. The bonus ID is essential IMO.
My guess is that the MR dept has become a lot more liberal handing out points than in the past, perhaps due to the devaluation of the points by the Continental loss.

..and they keep on giving
Applied for my mom so I can use the pts,and then a day later, I wrote to them asking for the 75K offer....here is the reply...:-::-::-:
Dear mrx900's Mother,
Yes, you are correct, you have applied for the Card ending in ***** through the promotional offer that is rewarding you only 25,000 Membership Rewards Bonus Points once you spend $1,000.00.
However, as we value your Membership with us and we understand your desire to earn the extra 50,000 points, I am willing to take one time exception on your account.
I have documented your account for crediting the extra 50,000 points as per the 5894 offer that will give 75,000 bonus points. Please remember, we will issue the additional 50,000 points only once you meet the spend threshold of the 5894 offer. As per the terms and conditions of this offer, you have to charge $500.00 of eligible purchases on the Premier Rewards Gold Card within three months of your Cardmembership to earn bonus points.
Once you charge the Card for this amount, please write me an email and I will be happy to issue 50,000 bonus points to your account. You will receive your remaining 25,000 points within 8-12 weeks after spending $1,000.00 within the first 3 months of Cardmembership.
I trust I have exceeded your expectations with this e-mail and look forward to continuing to serve you. You have an excellent day!

Did you have any AMEX charge cards before? I was wondering if it could be the reason they're not extending this offer to some folks.
