I applied for PR Gold last year in January 2010. I sent in a secure message for giggles and they told me they couldn't offer me the 75k offer but since I'm a great customer we will give you 15,000 MR . I happily accepted it and didn't attempt to go any further.

YMMV, good luck to all! So, 16 months later after applying I was successful.

You read the thread, right?

I've read the thread carefully and I'm very confident about the usefulness of my question. It's obvious to anyone that the question was posed by someone who has read the thread given the specific references to bits that have been mentioned throughout the thread.

On the other hand, you're clogging up this thread and other never-ending MilesBuzz threads with this and other pointless and sarcastic posts, e.g., http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16298422-post5300.html . As you say, "[t]he more crap cluttering up FT the more difficult it is for everyone else to find useful information" ( http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...l#post16291951 )

For those that sent a secure message...did you all wait to email AFTER you spent the $1000 or did anyone send a secure message after you received the card and activated it? Signed up for the 25K and just got the card but haven't reached the min spend. Don't want to jump the gun too early in asking for a change from 25K to 75K but I also don't want to wait a few weeks and then be denied.....

Great question:

when did you send the message at which step:

Apply --> approved --> received card --> activated card --> did some spending --> hit min spend --> paid bill --> received points for spend --> received bonus points

At which stage did you send the message?

I got in the mail an offer for 50k MR after $500 spending the first 3 months and signed up last week..
I'll probably try to call AE and see if they can change it to 75K after I get my card.

I got my PR Gold card in June 2010 on a targeted 50k promotion.. I tried sending a secure message to AMEX this afternoon referencing this bonus, however got denied because I got the card almost a year ago. Should I try again through a different avenue or am I SOL now that its "on record" trying to get them to give me an additional 25k?

Success With Secure Message!

Applied for Card in January. Spent $10k and received 25k bonus per original signup offer. Saw this thread. Called CS and was denied because it had been too long since I signed up on the original offer. Called MR 3 times, every few days, denied 3 more times. Did not claim I received the letter. Sent Secure Message and was approved by a charming Indian chap. Add'l 50k deposited overnight with a nice note back. Now I'm very happy and don't feel like I missed out on the offer. 50% Delta Bonus and Silver Status here I come!

I have had other Amex reward cards in the past but not Premier Rewards.

The information you have all provided here is fantastic! I just sent a secure email to membership rewards this morning as others have suggested, and told them about my being denied even the 25K even though I clicked through a 25K link and asked if I could get the 75K.

Here is their message back.

Dear MR. #######

I understand that you have received a better offer for the same type of Card. Our intent is to provide offers that will appeal to various interests and different types of people.

You will be happy to know that I have issued 75,000 bonus points to your account. Currently, you have 76,250 available points.

I trust I was able to meet your expectations. Your membership since 2006 is important to us.

It was a pleasure assisting you!

I had received a bunch of 50K offers via mail prior to this, but never pulled the trigger. I am thinking 75K is probably worth pulling the trigger on, even though I have recently signed up for Cap1, and both AA cards.
Gonna sign up for this! awwesome.

I didn't see this question posted before, but if I had the Premier Rewards previously and no longer have it open, am I eligible for a new cardmember bonus (either 25K or hopefully 75K?)

The t&c don't seem to be limited to 1st time cardholders like some of Citi's offers do these days.
