Lufthansa "live" ticket auction
 

Saw a press release come through today, and although I can't post it verbatim (against company policy), and can give some details.

Lufthansa will hold a real-time ticket auction on June 17 and 18 at their local website: www.lufthansa-usa.com/ . The bidding starts at $10 for two roundtrip economy class tickets from the U.S. to selected LH destinations worldwide, including Paris, Rome, Warsaw, Johannesburg, Singapore and Prague.

Winners will be notified by email.

This is the second internet auction for the carrier in the U.S. The first, which was held in February, resulted in some exceptional bargains. Two RT tix from Houston to Munich sold for $520. Dallas to Athens was another great deal at $930 for a pair of RT tix. Prompted by the success of the last auction, LH plans to hold an auction every other month from now on.

Let the bidding wars begin.
