I paid a dollar last August for the 14(?) day trial version. But it wasn't long before I discovered FlyerTalk and all the various other resources out there. I cancelled my membership before my trial finished because deals are posted way more often and much quicker here than they were on that site.

I know I am late to comment on this thread, but I saw a review in PCWorld magzine about the travel hacking cartel. I have been on Flyer talk for many years and enjoy reading everyone's opinions. I went to the website and it looks like a gotcha type of deal. I just don't know if this is the kind of product worth paying for since I don't really like credit cards that much. I have avoided a loyalty card for travel for years because I was worried it would mess up my credit. I appreciate all the work that flyer talkers do and post because they have helped me so much. Maybe the travel hacking cartel has changed since the last post on this thread? Anyone with experience or stories to share about travel hacking cartel?
I feel you can get the same or better information, for free, by following a few of the miles & points blogs, like Million Mile Secrets, Frugal Travel Guy, View From The Wing, Frequent Miler, etc.
It's helpful to read the threads on here, too. Most of the blogs write about the best deals, so they can save you time when you don't have the time to read hundreds of threads.

It's a good site to start when you are a newbie. But you realize that the site is rarely updated. I sent him some hack to get extra miles... I am still waiting
I will cancel my subscription and get all the information that I need here!

You know, Chris Guillbeau is acutally here. FT handle deepbluesky. I guess he gets enough traffic to cater to newcomers, like FTG to an extent.

I paid for the trial and I canceled but I still have access to the website and I get his texts every so often. It used to be good a longg time ago, now its trash, he updates it like 4 times a year and by the time he gets to the next deal all the bloggers already raped it.

Here i am- Cartel was just difficult.
Hi. Have any of you tried to sign up for that competing website... the Cartel? It forces you to pay, you can't ask any questions before you pay, and it's totally off-putting. So, here i am! Would anyone spare the time to give me some helpful info on how to get the best value out of this site, please? See you soon.

As a blogger, I would also add that you could start by reading some of the great free blogs that get mentioned around here. That is a controversial statement since many of the old pros question the value add of the blogs, but I do think they can be very helpful for beginners even if they don't have information that isn't available on FT. For a beginner, my favorite blog -- other than my own of course -- is millionmilesecrets.com.

The Cartel is dead. I can't believe he blatantly leaves registration open & advertises real-time updates. If hes updated it more than 4 times this year I'd be surprised.

Hi Jeff,
Glad you're enjoying the book! The Cartel continues to do very well. I have an agreement with a partner to not disclose current revenue, but it's sustainable and long-lasting.

Art of Non-Conformity Site:
I'm not an active poster on FT, so unless I've racked up thousands of posts in my sleep I'm pretty sure our Cartel membership exceeds the number of posts I have there.
