10K Mileage Plus Miles for Chase Checking (2011)
UPDATE:
This is a targeted offer (so far anyway). Not only that but the code needed to partake is given only after logging into your Chase CC account and is therefore tied to that account only. The details below are from a link that worked before Chase clamped down and made the details only viewable after login on the targeted account. Thanks to MyTravels for finding this and posting in another thread. https://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?...631_united_10k T&C Details (red text added my me): Offer not available to existing Chase checking customers. This exclusive offer is by invitation only and the bonus miles will be awarded to the United Mileage Plus customer who received this communication directly from Chase. To earn the bonus miles, you must open a new qualifying Chase checking account with a $100 minimum opening deposit of new money (money not currently held by Chase or its affiliates). Also, within 60 calendar days of your new checking account opening, we must receive from your employer or the government a monthly electronic direct deposit of your payroll, pension or government benefits, such as Social Security. The bonus miles will be deposited into your United Mileage Plus account by 1/31/2011 if your initial direct deposit posts to your account by 1/15/11; otherwise your bonus points will post to your United Mileage Plus account by 5/1/2011. |
Looks like they are not quite ready for this to be live yet. Every time I go to the link for a code it gives an error of "Due to a system error, we are having trouble retrieving your coupon code. Please try again later."

Darn, I was hoping for 25,000 again this year.
Last year, I missed out because I opened my checking account on December 28, 2009 (because there aren't any branches near me), and it counted as a 2010 opening because that's when I activated and used my debit cards. |

Where did you open the account? I might be moving back to BOS soon...
It's pretty easy to use Chase without branches -- transferring money in and out online is free and there are pretty high limits. |
It says you need a Mileage Plus Visa, but other than that, I wouldn't be surprised if the offer is transferable (although I would guess that codes can only be used once)

There was no Chase UA checking account last year, as far as I know. (And, I've been monitoring such things so I thing I should know.) In my mind, I've already merged CO and UA. I'm ahead of the airlines -- they haven't really completed their merger, as far as totally integrating systems. Sorry to create this confusion; my fault. |
Coupon code
Does anyone know the coupon code for the 10K miles on the Visa United Mileage card with Chase if you open the checking account. I received the offer, and I had the code which I entered when I signed up for the checking account, but when I received confirmation of the new checking account, it said that there was no coupon reward. I am livid. I contacted customer service and they said without my knowing the code, they can not help me. This is ridiculous. I hope someone has the code so that I can get the miles that are the reason I opened that checking account.
Thanks! |

All discussions until now lead us to believe that this is the code unique for each targeted individual and can only be used once. Others' code will not work for you (and yours will not work for others either), so you have to find your own code.
For those that are seeing the offer, is coming up between login and the "My Accounts" page or is it a link on the My Accounts page. I would like to get in on this offer, but so far no love for me :( |
I just saw this on my Dad's account.

Yeah, I'm annoyed tonight. |
Nice, just got it also.
Once logged in, click the 'Credit Card (...XXXX)' link. Page will pop-up. In FF 4, it opened up in a new tab automatically. |

I have had my Chase Checking account open for about 9 months now, originally opened it to get 25k Continental OnePass miles which I already used earlier this year.
Should I close that account down in hopes of future offers like this from United? |
I got this offer in the mail, and I got another offer with a $ 100 cash bonus. Which one should I go for? I'm confused. I am waiting for the 25k CO offer, but it sadly appears like it won't be around this year :td:
|
Makes sense the Continental debit cards for Chase checking will become United debits. Hopefully they'll bring back the 25K offer.

Why isn't it worth it? I'll gladly take a free 10K miles without an inquiry on my credit report. The only downside I can see is if the 25K bonus returns, but since Chase has been really great at applying their bonuses retroactively, I'm not too worried about that.
|
I got the offer via e-mail; as said before, it's targeted (I'm fairly sure) to current holders of the United Mileage Plus Visa card. I'm pretty happy with my current bank, so 10K miles is "on the fence" for me, to be worth switching. If they came out with a 25K promotion later, though, I'd definitely switch. What time of year did last year's 25K promo come out?
Also, is it possible that some of those high-mileage bonuses were due to banks trying to get customers back after the 2008-09 financial debacle? In other words - maybe they're *never* coming back. |
The customers aren't back yet- banks still desperate.
I can't imagine the offer going lower but am pretty sure it will get bigger. |

I used this in addition to my regular bank and closed the account at the 6 month mark. |

If you do close your checking account - Chase will usually deny you approval for any new accounts until any the accounts you have closed have been dormant for at least six months.

huh? I believe the rule was the account has to be opened for 6 months or Chase would take back the miles, and that you can only do one promotion per calendar year. When did this dormant for 6 months come into place?
I am just one data point, but I still do not see the offer and didn't get the latest email offer either. I have a MP Visa, but closed my last Chase Checking in October 2010. My guess is that later this Spring, I will get/see the offer once the 6 months is up since closing my checking. This is pure speculation on my part. Of course it could be some other thing altogether keeping me from getting it. |
Has anyone gotten these miles in their UA accounts yet? I signed up recently and I know the T&Cs state 6 weeks, but wanted to see some actual data points.

It doesn't appear to be a rule so much as how their system now works. They have gone away from a promo code (or general link) used to register and you must first log into your Chase account. At least that was how the offer was working in January.

How do you find the offer after logging into your Chase account?
Not sure if that is still active though. Since then reports are of both snail mail and email offers being sent. I haven't received either. |
