MBNA changes Balance Transfers rules

I have a MBNA card with NEA(National Education Association) Travel Rewards. For the last 2 years they gave points for balance transfers and the transfers were free. I just got a notice today that Balance Transfers will no longer earn Travel Rewards Points. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
They just ripped the heart out of my frequent flier points system. http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif
I knew it was too good to last, and enjoyed it while the door was open.
Anybody know of any other cards out there that give travel pts. for balance transfers????

Twice during the past year Milage Plus First Card sent me a special check that earned United miles up to my limit (this isn't the standard set of checks everyone gets every month or so). If I remember it was for double miles! I padded my account with over 50,000 points. Got to be careful and transfer back into the account or be hit with high interest.
Great deal. Hope they do it again this year!

I have the same MBNA. The change won't take effect until September, but I was doing well with that and my AMEX - charge to AMEX, balance transfer, then pay off bill. This is a real bummer.

Wonder, perhaps we can start our own call-in campaign and ask them to rethink their position?

I've done balance transfers (with rebates) with a couple cards:

1. A few months ago (but not currently) Citibank AAdvantage had a one-mile-per-dollar-transferred gimmick. I was able to earn 65,000 miles from this - not bad for a $50 fee. It was a special promotion, but hopefully they will be generous again in the future.

2. FirstUSA has a couple cards with rebates for balance transfers.

3. TrueValue Mastercard, by Associates National Bank.

I wish I had known about that MBNA card -- sounds like a nice little thing going. The best place to find out new gimmicks is at www.flur.com/cards - that's where I picked up most of my tricks.
