New UA Partner: 1000 UA miles for drugstore.com purchase, Targeted e-mail?

Not at a bad deal if there is no minimum spend requirement as I have interpreted from this email received this afternoon:

https://secure.unitedmileageplus.com/MP1011DS.jsp?T=EML

You don't have to drive to a drugstore to get all of your health and beauty products. Order online at drugstore.com and get products from great brands like Sonicare, L'Oreal, Gillette, Norelco and more - delivered right to your door.

Best of all, you'll earn award miles with every purchase.
Here's how:

# Spend up to $100 and earn 5 award miles for every $1
# Spend more than $100 and earn 10 award miles for every $1

Earn 1,000 bonus award miles when you make your first purchase by December 31, 2010.

Earning miles is easy. Just click the link below and start shopping. The miles you earn will be automatically posted to your Mileage Plus account

Unfortunately, I see no reference to the 1K bonus either. I'm thinking its targetted. Anyone have any concrete proof of the 1K bonus yet?

There is no mention in the email of it being targeted. It's certainly worth making a $5 purchase.

Get the 1000 bonus miles

1. Go to Mileage Plus Home
2. Refresh the page until you see the link - "New Partners New ways to Earn miles"
3. Click the link, you will see the promotion with 1000 bonus miles.

No need to refresh, just go to:

Mileage Plus -> Earn miles -> and under "Shopping with our retail partners
" choose promotions

It will have the 1000 miles offer but from there you're taken to the same page as the OP without the 1000 mentioned.

Sale/Clearance tab reveals $1.99 stick of deodorant. But shipping is $5.99, almost kills the deal for me. Free shipping @ $25 - great if you need to buy something anyway

You have to make a purchase at drugstore.com. Other purchases from other vendors do not count.

Travel size toothpaste is $1.29. Total cost (including the $6 shipping), yields $0.0072/mile - worth while in my book.

Drugstore.com sells gift cards (Home Depot, etc), so my question was, if you purchase a gift card through them do you think it will count for the 1000 miles?

I just saw that they sell gift cards from many stores and restaurants. The promo doesn't explicitly say that gift cards are excluded, but if you go to the Mileage Plus shopping portal, giftcards purchases from Drugstore.com are not eligible for reward. So, my guess is that gift cards probably won't count, but I haven't personally tried it.

Anyone get their 1000 for this yet? I got 1000 for Big Fish Games rapidly but neither I nor my wife have our Drugstore.com miles yet.
