upgrade transferability?

...didnt know where to post this thread exactly.

regarding many of the FFprograms, it seems as though UA is the best when it comes to transferability of upgrades. anyone know of other good FF programs that have loose transfer and sponsorship rules.

Many FFPs seem to allow sponsorship upgrade of travel companion but how about non-companion travel?

suggestions?

eVouchers on Lufthansa (LH?)
website says eVouchers for their status members can be used for travel companions.

or SWUs....can anyone use their SWU to upgrade someone else? if so for which airlines? I know on UA the elites/1k can use their SWUs for other people even if they are not traveling as well.

I have no status. I am planning a trip to ATH next summer. I am doing a bunch of research to either a) figure out a way to make status by then, which is not likely, or any status that would help with the trip; b) figure out a way to upgrade on a trip to ATH using either mileage upgrades (with high probabilities using what ever strategy i can learn) or finding the "gifted" upgrades.

mile milage banks are on DL and UA (and trying to build CO in plans it will consolidate with UA)

AA has three types of upgrades: mileage (sometimes with co-pay), eVIPs (AKA SWUs), and 500-mile segment upgrades.

A member can buy a mileage upgrade award for anyone. The member doesn't have to be on the same (or any) flight.

An eVIP can be given to anyone. Again, no rules about where the member is.

500-mile segment upgrades can be used for the member and one travel companion.

Doesn't seem that different from the LH policy.
