I don't know of a single state prison system that allows inmates to get tattoos. It's against the rules even if prisoners are rigging ink gear in their cells.

Dictating hair styles would inevitably be challenged by some on religious grounds. So if I were in charge of the rules for inmates I would worry about bigger issues than their hair..... like how do I get get their FF miles into my account!

I saw a program on tv last night about a prison in Tenn with 10k inmates. I only watched it for 10 min but at least 80% of the perps had visible tattoos I foolishly assumed were obtained behind bars. Has anyone told any warden about that that no-tattoo rule?

Would that be the "Locked Up Raw" series on MSNBC? I've watched that documentary series and usually the tattoo issues were guards finding contraband homemade inking supplies. The drug problem is how to keep the drugs out of the prison. The tattooing problem is how to keep the inmates from rigging existing benign stuff into inking paraphernalia.

I wonder if they trade FF miles as payment now that cigarettes are not allowed in most prisons.

make a shank - 100 AA miles
use said shank - 500 UA miles
sneak in drugs - 1000 UA miles
work detail - can be paid in CO miles or receive $ (in mint coins of course)
early parole - 2000 miles on any airline

I would imagine if a prisoner has an acct with an airline he or she can have someone on the outside do some activity to keep the acct open and maybe the meals there are on idine?

I actually found my own thread again.

Since I fly out of SMF, I see a lot of Folsom escorts (in the professional sense, of course!) flying out in the mornings. Most of them are 1Ks. They check in thru the red carpet lane ..... pull out the 1K card ..... but then spend a heck of a lot of time filling out paperwork since they are carrying weapons.

They usually fly out on the early morning flights .... and they usually are in F.

Often they are on a same-day turn-around, picking up the prisoner and coming home again that same even -- altho then they are stuck in coach (often last row, non-reclining seat) with their "guest" in the middle seat.

That was it (its still on the tivo). Why they allow the perps and their visitors to mingle (and pass drugs, tobacco etc) with each other is beyond my apprehension. I was also amazed to learn how many perps have cellphones and private stocks of mags, food and ingredients for making booze.

I suggest the prisons return to having the perps manually make smaller rocks from any bigger rocks. Perhaps the International Rock Crushers Union (IRCU) does not permit it.

Isn't going against the rules what most people are in prison for? I think a prisoner could do great on the promos. Think of taking advantage of the US Airways Grand Slam promo.
