Pay your rent online, earn miles!
For those who are eager to earn points/miles on paying your rent, here is the latest... For $29.95 a year, you can use your credit card to pay rent online via www.williampaid.com
Enjoy! |
|
What's the catch?
So what prevents you from paying $5K/Month to your SO/brother/roommate for "rent" and get those points for $29?
|
Interesting. I wonder what verification if any is required of your "rental" arrangement - ie can I rent something from my friend/spouse/LLC for $10K per month and charge it?
Oops, looks like theguyver beat me to that comment... On the flip side I have to wonder if "williampaid" is planning to abscond with your credit card info or simply your money (although the latter would be easy enough to resolve via chargeback). Unless I am missing something (do they charge you way in advance and make money on the float? are they charging your card as a cash advance?) or they have a killer deal on credit card processing, it seems like a total loser of a business model. |

aye, too good to be true. After the free sign-up you get the following message:
FlexPay - If you use a credit/debit card or multiple accounts, a 2.45% fee will be applied. |

As I haven't used WilliamPaid, I can't comment on the reliability of service. I'm sure that it will come in handy for some FTers, if only a few.

Sounds just like a scam to me, or at least a terrible deal. I'd rather just use my checking account.

Helpful
i don't seeit the same way. its $29 a year to have rent paid and reported to my credit if i use a check, $1.75/mo w/out credit reporting. my landlord doesn't take credit cards, so i like that i can. they're not the landlord so, they charge a fee for cc if u need to use one. i think its much lower than others... westernUnion charges me $8 to send $50. may not be for everyone, but seems like a helpful service.
i googled and found a link that offered $25 restaurant.com gift cert for purchase of a year of rent pay. |
not as cheap as
why not buy coins from the mint and go to walmart and get a cheap money order to pay your rent or mortgage...total cost is around $1 and the time it takes to turn coins into Money order. Might even float you a couple of weeks depending on when your cc statement is due.

Your credit card reports to the credit bureau regardless of whether you pay your rent with it or not. I don't see why you need to pay extra for anything extra. Who uses western union to pay their rent? |
You also agree that some credit card issuers may treat certain charges as cash advances pursuant to a credit card issuer’s terms of use. That could kill the entire miles thing :p |
