Don't want to make anyone paranoid, but I came across this article at http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/tech/ctd427.htm. Here is an exert:

Yahoo! online message board that Itex's ''current management is blind,
stupid and incompetent.''

The lawsuit charges the author of the message with defaming the
company and its president, undermining the confidence of Itex's

I always thought that opinions were protected as free speech?

I'm not a lawyer, and I don't necessarily want to get into what is sladerous and what isn't, but the statement of the person being sued in this case I can certainly understand as being slanderous.

Slander is, and rightfully so, something that you can be sued for. If this Orangecrust provides some evidence that his assertion that the managment of a company was blind, stupid, and incompetent, he will win.

It just goes to show that you can not just run around saying things about other people without possible reprucussions.

This is good advice, and indirectly related
to this chat board.

I think we are mature enough not to defame
anyone (occassionally we may joke among each
other, but that's ok...a nd I needed the ice
cream humor last week!)

But if you are ready to express an opinion
be ready to back it up!!!! I'm careful in my
