These programs have also become de facto e-commerce accounts, in addition to loyalty and rewards, used by guests to "purchase product" from a hotel. would amazon or itunes deactivate your account if you didn't make a purchase every 12 months. (i know for a fact that amazon does not close accounts for inactivity.)

i think the hotel industry has yet to recognize this aspect of their programs.
