What bonus on the Freedom card and you talking about (that is "too good to ignore")? I too am glad to have recently found out that you can transfer Chase Freedom pts to Sapphire Preferred and then on to Hyatt. I don't have Sapphire Preferred, but I will bank all my Freedom pts and get Sapphire Preferred one day (when the next signup bonus better than 50k comes out, as I have trouble applying for a CC that recently offered double the signup bonus) and then I'll transfer all my Freedom pts to Sapphire then into Hyatt like you. As far as I know, the only bonus on the Chase Freedom card is the 10% bonus if you have Chase checking, plus 10 bonus pts per transaction. So are you telling me that you charge to the Freedom card just for that 10% bonus? I basically sockdrawer my Freedom CC with the exception of the 5% deals. I can't justify using it over using the Capital One Venture or SPG Amex that give ~2% return when Chase Freedome gives maybe ~1.65% return (since I value a GP pt at 1.5cpp). What am I missing CC guru? Granted there is the Quarterly 5% bonus that I mentioned above which is a great deal (I've already maxed out the current Quarter's 5% travel bonus capped at $1500), but that has nothing to do with having a Chase Checking acct. |
10 pt per transaction can really add up very quickly, when you can do many little transactions.
Think about each grocery trip how many little things you can buy individually... just an example. Pay your cable bill / phone bill / whatever bills online with multiple transactions as another example. |

Ditto.
However we are still having the DBA Business Checking Accounts opened for CO bonus miles - that one always has end of month as the statement closing date. I just notice that the 5 non pin transactions now seem to post much earlier. Yesterday I did 5 at Walgreen and they already showed as pending. I dont know when has this posting method changed because if they are used as credit cards, the posting usually take a few days - at least that is how it works in previous months. Did another 5 Non PIN transactions today at the old type of card swipe machine at Walgreen. They already show as pending at Chase Online - so now it does post immediately even they are Non PIN transactions. OTOH, Chase confirms that now it does not matter whether it is Signature (Non PIN), or PIN transactions, 5 of such each statement cycle would automatically waive the $12 monthly fee. Below is the SM reply I got: The following are the ways to avoid the service fee on your account. Link to an owner's personal Premier Plus, Premier Platinum, Platinum or grandfathered Premier Link to an active business credit card/charge card in good standing Maintain $5,000 average ledger balance 5 or more Point of Sale debit card purchases (signature or PIN) during monthly checking statement cycle; ATM withdrawals do not count Note that with DBA Business Account, the Direct Deposit is not even an option to allow fee waiver. I will continue to do the 5 debit card transactions each month as it carries both the DBA Business Checking and a Grandfathered Personal Premier Checking which in turn entitle Freedom to earn extra bonus points. :) |

I thought they only pay 0.01%? Where you have the 0.55%?
I moved my 25K into. Give them a call. I had to. It wasn't obvious online. |

There is some kind of savings account option
