payusatax now accepts Visa credit cards for 1.89%

I mentioned this in another thread, but, since this thread is specific to payusatax.com, I guess it is worth repeating. payusatax.com has started accepting Visa credit cards for the same 1.89% fee as MasterCard and Discover. Previously, Visa was processed on payusatax's sister site, valuetaxpayment, for 2.29%. I am not sure exactly when the change occurred.

looks like payusatax is to pay FEDERAL TAX only and not state tax?

I don't see anywhere where it says STATE TAX.
Please confirm

That is going to vary by state.

Used a Citi 5% cash back mastercard to pay $800 (1.89% charge) and made $25 on the deal.

Wasn't sure how the payment would post but it just posted as a payment and not a cash advance.

Per the T&C on payusatax.com, only Visa debit cards have the flat fee of $3.89. Mastercard debit cards are charged at the same rate as credit cards.

This also wipes out the opportunity to repeat DCBob's Delta Skymiles earning since Suntrust just switched all of their debit cards, including the Delta one, from Visa to Mastercard. Bummer.

Bummer no longer! Their MasterCard debit card policy has changed. I tested my Delta Skymiles Debit MasterCard on payusatax.com today using a hypothetical $10,000 Federal tax payment. The fee that was added to my payment was a flat $3.89! So I will definitely be using that debit card to pay my balance due for 2011.

Click on "Other Services" at the top of the page, then on "State Tax Payments." You can only pay taxes to Alabama, New York, and Kansas. Illinois is "coming soon."

Anyone know when we will be able to pay 2012 estimate tax?

Hopefully, it will be before April 17, 2012. The only reason to pay before April 17 is if you need the FF miles right away.

I just tried a dry run with a SunTrust Business Delta Skymiles debit card and payusatax.com would not accept it as either an "ATM" or "Debit", but would accept it as a "credit card" with the usual credit card processing fee. I got similar results at officialpayments and pay1040. Valuetaxpayment, payusatax's sister site, did not accept the card at all, which makes sense, since it currently only accepts American Express for credit card payments.

Today, I just made a $15K payment on payusatax.com using my SunTrust Personal Delta SkyMiles MasterCard debit card (under MasterCard debit card) and the fee charged was a flat $3.49. I don't know why it didn't work for you, but it may be because you used a business debit card.

Right you are! I confirm that a dry run a few minutes ago with a Suntrust business debit MasterCard number took me to a message telling me it was ineligible for debit card processing, but changing the card number to a Suntrust personal debit MasterCard took me to a dialog computing a charge of just $3.49 on a proposed $10k payment. Both of these experiments were done with invalid card numbers, reducing the chance that it is a matter of one card having a PIN associated with it and the other not. The first six digits of each card number, the "bank identification number", was:

Personal: 5536 94xx xxxx xxxx
Business: 5196 69xx xxxx xxxx

Thanks for catching this, DCBob! Needless to say, I'm sure many readers will be interested to learn whether you get miles for this as you have in the past.

Oops. That should have read, "Both of these experiments were done with INVALID card numbers."

Unfortunately, the flyertalk web site seems to have developed a bug in the past week or so where it treats me as being logged out all the time, preventing me from editing a previous posting (but it allows me post, if I reenter my user name password after submitting the posting). So, I apologize for making such a simple correction in the form of a new message. (I'm able to edit my posts agiain as of April 15, 2012.)
