KLM Mileage Question

I am planning a trip from LAX to PVG (Shanghai) in May.

I have a friend who has 200,000 KLM Miles that he said he would give to me. The problem I have is I have no clue how to make this work or happen. I know KLM has "partners", but can I use these miles if he gives them to me?

How do I know how many miles it would cost to buy a ticket? It seems like some of their "partners" say that mileage rewards can only be used by a family member.

I'm just so confused, and don't know where to go to figure all this out. I know I can count on someone on this page to help me understand.

I would love to fly Business Class at least, seeing as I am 6'3 and 250 pounds. Thanks everyone for helping me figure this out.

one more thing...

He also has 43,000 British Airway miles, and 160,000 Lufthansa miles. Can you help me figure out how to make this work and me get a business/first class seat for as cheap as possible? These mileage things are so confusing!

At first:
Your friend CAN'T give you any miles. But he/she CAN buy a ticket for you with their miles. It's about 160K in business class, so that's no problem WHEN there is availability (which can be a problem). Taxes and fuelcharges will be for the first part 170 EUR, I can't see the way back, but I guess this will be about the same, so I guess you will pay about 400 USD for both directions together.

For more reactions, you better can ask this on the Flying Blue forum.

I guess BA is not an option (you need more miles), but LH can be - but for that you better can ask the question in the Miles And More Forum.
