Acquiring Miles in Different Countries with CC
 

After seeing so many methods of acquiring miles in the states I was wondering if people of other countries have also been able to accrue thousands of miles with their credit cards.(Ex: mint deal, funding bank account, gift cards, etc)

Please share your experiences...

Nothing I can contribute here, but I'd also love to know about this.

Most European countries have local creditcards cobranded with the local airline(s) each with their own benefits.

NL: FB Amex (1-2 RDM/euro)
NL: M&M Visacard

DE: M&M Mastercard
DE: HHonors Visacard

FR: FB Amex (Amex Gold/Plat earns EQM, silver only RDM)

Besides these I know BA and BMI has their cobranded card in the UK.

FB has a mastercard in Switzerland.

M&M has several cards in several countries.

Indeed, but I think the question is whether there have been opportunities in other countries to use those cards in economically unproductive ways (e. g. mint deal, funding bank account, gift cards, etc) to generate miles or points.

There was a pre-paid card in the UK which was good while it lasted. The scheme went something like:
- buy card
- load card with cash from credit card
- stroll down to ATM
- withdraw cash
- deposit cash in bank
- use deposited cash to pay off credit card bill, wash rinse repeat.

Of course, the real trick to it was that for some reason, loading the card from your Amex was not treated as a cash purchase, meaning it was miles earning. The main limitation was that you could only withdraw £200/day. As they cottoned onto what was being done, it became more and more restricted, more people got investigated for money laundering and the death knell sounded when transactions started to go through as cash and so were no longer miles earning.

Not something I did (I had no banks close to where I worked at the time), so I'm sketchy on some of the details, I've remembered them as much as I can, but I may have some wrong, but it was a nice little earner for a while.
