First MR- your thoughts

Hey all,

So i have about 16,000 EQMiles so far on AA this year, and i'm excited about going for my first elite status ever!(gold)- I'm trying to scrape together a way to get another 9,000 miles. Here is what I have for October 30th:

GSO-DFW-PDX-dfw-gso

price:$246 a/i...

i figure that route roundtrip is 5230 miles, so with the double qualifying program, that will give me over 10,000 miles, enough to qualify for gold this year.

What do you guys think? Am I messing something up, or should this work?

Cheers,

Michael

For 5,000 miles, you'd be hard pressed to spend much less than $240. I'd say this itinerary is a winner. Do you have any overnight stays in this itinerary? You'd have to factor in the cost of hotels / cabs / food / etc.

Welcome to FlyerTalk gates_2! Welcome to MRing!

Are you limited in your dates for travel? If not you can go GSO-DFW-SFO-DFW-GSO on 10/6 for $215.90 all in. 4914 miles each way. A few shorter mileage wise, but $29 saved.

@ zby- thanks for the tip. Its actaully all within one day, a long one at that!(leave 5:50 Am, get home 11:30PM), but more worth it to not stay overnight!

@pat- thanks for the warm welcome- I'm excited to get started!I am a graduate student, so I can only do weekend travel at this point.

you can turn-around at SEA instead of PDX gaining an admittedly miniscule 86 miles (with DBLEQ) for the same cost

You must work for a pretty strict advisor. Grad school was some of the free-est times of my life! The concept of weekend/weekday did not apply.

Run away from Medical School. All the residents I know currently wished they chose a different profession......

Are you at WFUSM? If so small, it certainly is a small world. I might have to use this MR for myself! Let me know when you go, maybe we could keep each other company.

@4health.. you have a PM

yes now I know I'm not the only crazy med student thinking of such things!
