AA: Quick Q on First MR

First off, I want to thank everyone. I've only been reading this website for a week and I've learned alot thus far. I'm based out of Chicago and am currently platinum with AA. By year end, I'll need about 20K more to acheive executive platinum this year and am looking at the following trip:

ORD>LAX>NRT>SIN - roundtrip 21,000 miles, price ~$900

The flight from NRT to SIN is on Japan airlines. Will I receive the miles from NRT to SIN and back although its not on AA metal?

Thanks,

Dave

Dave from Chicago, welcome to FT!
On your place I would think about this opportunity as it is even cheaper than your trip to SIN.

It depends on the fare class. If you look at the partner info on the AA website, you can see which fare codes are needed.

Is the NRT-SIN-NRT part of your trip on an AA flight number?

If so, you'll accrue full miles on those segments. Under a JL code, you're likely looking at 50%, or 70%, or in some rare cares, 0% credit. Also, no elite status bbonuses under JL code.

Yes, I'm purchasing the flight from NRT to SIN and back through AA.com and the flight number is AA 5831 to and AA 154 back. Based on your response, I'll receive full miles for these because they're sold as AA flight?

Thanks,

-D

Yes, I actually did but I have wedding in SoCal that weekend and won't be able to attend. Thanks for the suggestion though.
