Do not call the airlines under any conditions! This is the fastest way to kill the trick and bring unwanted attention to your itinerary! And do not post precious deals in this thread, this is by far the fastest way to kill the trick!

************************************************** ******
This is NOT the right place to ask: "Can you help me with a low fare for AAA-BBB?" This is not the beg-it thread, but the trick-it thread.

This thread deals with unique combinations of routes and booking tricks in order to lower prices on airline fares. Prices that would astound the general public are often achieved by the posters in this thread.

Many people, including airline representatives, monitor this thread. For that reason, it is unorganized, very content heavy, often lacking details, and written in shorthand. It takes patience and effort in order to understand the conversation and be able to participate as an active member.

We encourage you to read the entirety of this thread if you would like to get started and to experiment as soon as you understand the gist of Trick It. Lots of time spent reading, practicing, and learning is the only way to be able to reproduce our tricks and discover new ones yourself. There are many, many people who ask for advice here, so productive members are only able to help those who have shown a concerted effort and progress over a long period of time (months).

If you have no idea what this thread is about, a good place to start are various blogs' posts on the subject. At the very least, read the Rules for posting in this thread. They're also listed in the very first post, below.

It depends ;-) What has been written should be enough, possibly too much information.

ITA matrix (I personally prefer "old" version) is fine.
/rt means "return ticket", actually redundant info since if not written we assume that we talk about /rt

Kind of new here, sorry if this is a dumb question...
I recently looked into that C1w-C3 routing published on sf with a non-alliance carrier, but was wondering if it's possible to cut the fat on their JV codeshare partner...

Thanks in advance

Hello everyone,
I'm a long FT member (even though not active on the forums) and a FD enthusiast! I've read all the posts in the past and tried a few FD's back then with success (beginner's luck, perhaps?!). But then - as I'm sure many of you will resonate with this - life gets into the way, work, kids, bills to pay, etc, and eventually you have no time to dedicate to this "sport"/hobby.
I have recently been aware of the infamous SF posts about some new FD's the're advertising and selling, and I'd like your help (for those of you who'll be kind enough to guide me) to get back to this, and most importantly, a few answers for my once-again-newbie questions, as follow:
1) In your opinion, are FD's a "rising sport" again, or is it just a SF's "stunt" to get attention (I thought this was dying a few years ago...)?
2) When EoE specifies that side trips are permitted, provided that combination is for airline "x","y","z" does it mean it's just those airlines? (It seems that way, apparently, but I tried (for a 3x) and don't get any results from ITA...)
3) When EoE specifies that side trips are permitted, and no airline is specified, how can we determine the working dump? Is it just trial & error? I've tried a lot of different airlines, and doesn't work
4) When EoE specifies that side trips are permitted via the point of combination, a working FD (1x or 3x) must be to/from departure/arrival city? (all my working FD's in the past had nothing to do with that, but rather on other continents!)
And finally,
5) I'm currently trying to figure out a working 3x FD for a route (C1-C3 /rt). I have found the BF and, apparently, the airline/country/city pair to cut fat... but every single time I test it on ITA, despite cutting all/most the fat, the 3x BF is huge and the savings are gone! I then try to manually force the "N" and "F bc" codes, but then no results are found. In short, I cut the fat, but I'm forced to an outrageous 3x BF! Is it a glitch from matrix, or should I look for other FD?
I hope I haven't revealed any secrets and/or broken the forum's guidelines here... but I really need your help to point me in the right direction!
I look forward to hearing from you, and please accept my best regards in advance

I was able to cut fat by 50% EX-C1. Requires some weird construction, but does save money. Would be interesting to know if anyone has gotten 100% off. Managed to price it but not sure if it's a good idea to travel on it. Decided not to use it anyways as they had a promotion with no change fees. Also not really sure why the fat is being cut or even why the construction works - need to do more research.

Back in the days (last flown in Decembre 2019), I managed to cut fat to ~12€ IIRC on two specifics routes, C3 to C2 RT for 180€ with a 3X. Unfortunately, they don't fly those routes currently, hopefully it will come back in the future. But never managed to cut YQ ex-C1/C2 on this carrier. Used it a few times

No flights on C1-C2 anymore..those routes ended a few years ago. Earlier C1-C3 was 100% dumpable.. with a simple strike. Like I mentioned that it can still be dumped but it makes no economic sense anymore at least on the routes that I am interested in and the strikes I know of
