40K WOW!
Welcome to FT!
Best suggestion I have if you can move QUICK! ORD-HNL $342 R/T w/coupon readily available on CC. That puts 9K each flight. No advance purchase, leave today if you want and no min stay, so same day (1hr) turns.

Do your MRs early next year - you'll still keep status (if you have it) until the end of February and you'll have a much better chance at catching some good fares (think Europe in Jan/Feb). You get status early in 2009 and it'll last until 2/2011.

UA status will now valid 'till end of Jan, not Feb.

I agree with another poster - try to do mileage runs next January or early February. But that might mean needing a lot more miles than 40K to maintain a higher status that you only need 40K if taken through EOY. I am doing this variation myself but I booked it months ago and doing a lot of flying the first 11 days of January.

If you need 40K in two weeks, just go for 50K in eight and a half!
I did this last year, using cheap HKG and FRA fares to get up to 1P by 2/28.
I have been a whole lot more relaxed this December than in the past...!

I believe SeattleFred did something like 48K in the last two weeks of December last year.

My gosh....I've never seen a "need" for that many miles in such a short time!
Maybe OP need 4K miles by eoy?
