Need a First Class fare ex LAX on *A - Max Miles

Hi folks !

I'm in the position that I need about 25K Lufthansa M&M status miles for requalification LH SEN.

I only see one way: First Class travel on transcons since this yields maximum mileage (325% with LH M&M). I originate in LAX but I could always book a feeder flight, no deal breaker !

There is the fare to ATL, 1150 USD on UA requiring overnight and brings about 18.500 miles total. It was 830$ before... but I guess I waited too long :(

Are there any other opportunities ? Even US Air could be considered but I have about 800$ vouchers for UA left.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
S

If you're willing to stomach US, LAX-CLT-PVD RT is $890 AI on cheaptix.

I dont know if I should book a cheap coach fare to ATL or the like and hope for the upsell opportunity.

That can be a dangerous game though...

Thanks. That would net in 18.244 miles if I got that right. Total on usair.com 867 USD !

Now to find US Vouchers to exchange :o

Anyone else has another idea ?

Thx,

Hmm seems like the PVD option is the best.... I wished I could avoid US.

Then again, can it be worse than UA ?

When are you planning on doing this baby? Kinda playing with it myself - looking to fly into BDL or HPN though - but then it comes up to $1,100+. But i could do PVD as well.

Unfortunately yes. :(

UA will seem almost SQ-like by comparison.

OK, on second thought, that's a stretch. :D

I plan to do it within the next 10 days.

Thought about Swiss Business Savers but flights to Europe are expensive right now.

I should kick myself that I havent booked the ATL thing early enough

I've been calculating myself - but somehow I get a net of 21k+ for both LAX-CLT-PVD or LAX-PHL-PVD. Or is your figure excluding the Exec. Bonus?

I only got CLT available...

Careful with PHL ! They not always have mainline with F available to PVD and the regional partners dont have F, so you end up in Y and dont earn enough miles.

Are you based in LAX right now to start the MR here ?

Not currently, but will be flying into LAX early next year and have to mak emy way to CT anyways - so this baby might actually come in handy - requalification is due and i won't be traveling that much in 09.

Maybe ATL will go down in price again....

Unfortunately I need to do it this year ! But it's difficult in the christmas time where there is so much money to spend already. Another 1300 USD for status renewal is tough even though it would be certainy worth it in the longterm.
