Consider this when assigning MR value
Just wondering, most of these mileage run bring in free upgrades to the elite members. So, say you pay $1000 for 16000 base miles, you'd get a mileage run of 6.5 cents a mile. But when you factor in (4) 500 upgrades ($200 per if your an elite member) it brings the mileage run to 5 cents a mile. And if your one to buy miles at the end of the year (maybe for that 1st class SYD ticket next year?) the trip would net you 16000 plus your elite bonus ( 4000-16000 depending) which would run $700 to $1000). That would effectively bring the mileage run to 0 cents a mile!
Ain't Rationalization Grand? :p |

Would you do all this travelling with upgrades/buying miles if you were not an elite member?

oh, sorry about post in wrong place.
Anyway, I burn through those upgrades as fast as I get them, and sometimes end up purchasing one or two, so they are worth it to me. ;) |
