I think this may be over. 5 min. ago I found 3/26 for $216 & 4/9 for $268, but suddenly those dates are $1264 & $1335.

Never mind...they're back to the original prices. Sorry.

In case you have not been following the USD/AUD currency exchange rate, the dollar has exceeded 1.51.....up from a low of 1.01 in July.

This is the highest level in five years.

Is there a way to choose specific seats on these flights? I booked a trip, but it didn't assign me a seat, and I can't figure out how to go about choosing one.

Less than 2 week stay?

Anyone find anything coming back after 7-8 days? Everything I find at the lower prices seems to require atleast 14 days or more.

Please do not call the airline to try and get them until this deal is 'officially' dead.

I was thinking the same thing. Some UA EQMs and RDMs would be nice. At that point it'd be 3.2 cpm. Maybe route on SQ LAX-NRT-SIN-SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX for 1.9 cpEQM. The possibilities are endless.

A reminder to those going to Australia for the first time: you'll need an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) or VISA if you are a U.S. resident. The ETA process does not always go smoothly (mine was rejected last year and required followup with the consulate in Ottawa that added on a few days, and I'm over there every year), so allow plenty of time for that. There is an FTer that will process these for free but not sure he is prepared for this quantity. You can probably do the ETA a month ahead of departure and have time to settle any issues that come up.

Also for first time Australia visitors, I have a stack of photos linked below.

True, but their C-Class fares are very reasonable at <$5k r/t.

I won't, but I'm just curious if everyone else had the same thing happen or if they were able to book seats?

I didn't specifically ask people not to cross-post I suppose (originally). As long as my good share of FTers get dibs first, I'll be happy. FILL THE PLANES FLYERTALK!!!
