Planning for 2009

There are some good fares which expire on 1/9/2009. Does anyone have an educated guess as to when new fares will be announced for winter/spring 2009? After 1/9 they seem to skyrocket.

Considering that this is an international forum where 1/9 can mean either 9 January (minority) or 1 September (most people), you might want to be more precise with your dates.

cheers,

Henry

Considering the OP asked about winter/spring, I think it's safe to assume that they mean January 9. Point taken, though :)

Educated Guess? Probably closer to October.

I was always lead to believe that 3 months ahead was about the time to start looking for general deals.

Obviously special offers etc can happen at any time.

The OP made it quite clear that he was talking about 2009. Hence Winter and Spring.

...technically I guess he meant Winter 2008 and Spring 2009??? So it's not actually all THAT clear:D

The OP is from the USA (per his profile at left side of screen) so I assume he meant Jan 9, 2009. If someone from Ireland posted 1/9/09 I would assume he meant Sept 1. ;)

Anyway, sounds like the OP has nothing to do but wait. If oil prices continue to stay off their highs then maybe we'll see some deals for 2009, otherwise we'll continue to see the cents-per-mile creep up higher.

You can note that Southwest's schedule currently ends on January 9, 2009. Once WN is competing for business, other carriers will adjust their prices accordingly. It looks like WN will extend their schedule on August 21. http://www.southwest.com/travel_center/
