What do you bring on an overnight red-eye MR?

Doing my first overnight red-eye MR tomorrow, leaving SEA at 6:55pm and returning late Sunday. No more than 2 hours in each of 5 stops.

Planning to bring some snacks, a few books, headphones. What else do you all recommend bringing?

Toothbrush and a small, travel sized tube of toothpaste. ^

I'm making my first ever MR on Saturday-so here's a list from the female perspective-seems a little longer :D
LHR ORD BOS JFK LHR AA in Y
My list so far-Laptop (with cigerette lighter adaptor), mobile phone, change of clothes, toothbrush, hairbrush, minimal cosmetics (foundation, eyeliner and moisturiser) angora socks, 4 charity/goodwill paperbacks to be discarded as read enroute (somewhere the next bookless traveller can pick them up) Passport Aadvantage card, US currency, creditcard, camera.
Should all fit into my laptop bag so no handbag needed.
What did I forget ?

duchy....if you are getting back on the same plane, you have too much....i usually have a change of garments, a book [i cant read more than 1 book on a turn around mr] cash, cc's, passport, no laptop or cellphone, snacks [sometimes pilfered from the ac]....

sometimes, i don't need the rollaboard pull toy....but can do w/ a shoulder bag...

for a 2-3 day stay when the fare requires it, i can still get by w/the pull toy, but do take a camera...

good luck...

As a female M/R'er I agree with the above, but I don't take a full change of clothes-- merely a change of undies and a different top/sweater (I'll wear the same pants & jacket). I also carry one of those small sample perfumes and a scrungy to pull my hair back after a night of seat sleeping;)

Add deodorant, please. Comb or small brush. Puzzles - suduko and crossword and ??. If you leave the snacks at home and don't eat anything fattening on the plane, you can usually drop a little weight.

Some task like Christmas cards, or a couple letters you've been meaning to write, or thank-you notes.

Comfortable/loose fitting clothing and shoes. Jeans are about the worst thing you can wear.

Ah should have said 1 night layover for me departing LHR 10am back onto LHR next day at 8.30pm so about 5 hours in a real bed (subject to any mishaps enroute) and I suspect one pair of black trousers and jacket will do mauld-you're right. I guess I should have said deoderant too-guess it doesn't do to assume it doesn't need saying :D
Laptop is for a stratagy game I never have time to play-one book per flight is about right for me-might get away with three but hate been left with nothing to read tho they won't be kept once read.
Thanks for the useful suggestions

Guess it all depends on the fit of the jeans you wear. I've worn jeans for a few mileage runs, never had an issue. But my jeans aren't the skin-tight kind, more loose fitting.

For one MR I wore sneakers, but for my international trips in Dec, I wore my timberlands, and they worked well, especially since it was cold and messy in Germany.

I think dark clothes in general are good, it is more difficult to notice if they're dirty.

Thanks for the list everyone. I'm a guy, so can skip the scrunchie/perfume. I've started to group some of these together below. I also noticed that I have two 2.5hr layovers (in SFO and IAD) so I plan to bring the laptop and an AC adapter.

Essentials
Cash/ATM Card
Tickets (duh)
Cell phone
ID/Passport (I am all domestic)
Listing of alternate flights/routing in case of IrrOps

Toiletries & Personal Care
Toothpaste & Toothbrush
Deodorant
Valerian (natural sleep aid)
Change of undies
Change of socks
Change of t-shirt/top

Entertainment
Book(s)
Camera
Laptop with AC Adapter & movie(s)
Headphones
Notebook to take notes, pen

Other Notes
Skip the snacks & high fat foods to lose some weight (dang, beer too?!)
Bring fruit (apples & oranges?)
Dress comfortably with loose-fitting dark garments (no leather chaps :td:)

There was a very good thread not that long ago on this exact same subject.

Maybe mods can merge the threads instead of rehashing all the same stuff.

Oh yes... Mods please merge if you feel they are close enough in topic (one is about daytime MRs, the other is overnight MRs). I did a forum search for "overnight mileage" but didn't see that one pop up :)

And my brother in law swears his cowboy boots are as comfortable as my Merrill Jungle Mocs.

I personally am psychologically most comfortable in jeans but physically the are thicker, stiffer, and less soft than the thinner cotton pants I now wear on MRs (probably why they don't make PJs out of denim). Also, my favorite pants have a left side leg pocket that holds 2 50cc minis perfectly (for celebrating on my last segment home).
