Help me find the cheapest way from HKG - Japan - Melbourne - Japan - HKG
Hi All,
Would be grateful if anyone could help me in finding the cheapest way for the following routes. I am happy to visit anywhere in Japan (Sapporo, Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Hiroshima etc).
Tickets are pretty expensive. I have Asia Miles as well so if the route allows accumulation of Asia Miles, that would be a bonus.
Dec 8 / 9: HKG - Japan
Dec 11 / 12: Japan - Melbourne (arrive Dec 12 in Melbourne)
Dec 14/15: Melbourne to Japan
Dec 17: Japan to HKG

A good travel agent should be able to help you with this.
It depends on whether you have specific commitments, but I think adding in two Japan legs complicates things. It would probably be easier (and hopefully cheaper) just to build in one trip to Japan rather than backtracking.
One option might be a CX ticket from Japan to Melbourne, with you travelling on a separate ticket from HKG to Japan.

Thank you! I took your advice with one Japan leg instead. HKG - MEL - OSAKA - HKG.

One way cash fares can often be considerably more than half the cost of a return (unreasonably, in my view), and around a week before Christmas there will likely be high demand, so if you can't get an Asia Miles ticket from MEL to Osaka, you may want to consider other options e.g. could you at least get to HKG or TPE on miles and then pay for a shorter hop from there? As well as Cathay, Qantas, JAL and Malaysian are all One World carriers so you may have some options there using Asia Miles.
