so I booked DUB HEL SEA and back. Got rebooked on AY coded AA/AS flights via ORD/DFW. We really want to fly AY, so we'd like to do DUB HEL LAX SEA (or via ORD) on the outbound and SEA LHR DUB on the inbound. I have used chat function and called LA office and both agents said that they could only offer me AY coded AA flights. is this a case of HUCA?
UPDATE: HUCA worked...got the changes I desired. hooray!

xfisgsm did you already try this out? Asking as my trip is coming soon and my travel companion needs to leave earlier - I will just remain in CUN if I can't make any changes. Current backup is just use the outbound and see what to do with the inbound (already have an award ticket in hand for the earlier date back to Europe).
Cheers!

For cancellation - sadly you get really next to nothing, it's really just the tax minus administration cost of 30€.
For changes (after departure) - the ticket can't be change online nor by any agents (at least in my case - which I believe all would have it in I-class for minimal cost) - it will need to be sent to the back office for re-pricing. Yes, it does seem to use historical fare. I requested to check for 2 different dates and routing - one came back not too shabby (which I took - and even came back with a decrease in taxes, guess because on my return it does not pass via the UK) and the other which I rerouted via US and LHR came back with > 2000+€ difference (despite it having I-class available).
I moved mine to Jan'24 hoping for a change in schedule and I can maybe route it via a beter routing and maybe to another date.
Hope this helps those needing this info. I was really afraid that they would come back about this special fare, but luckily no mentioned by anyone....

Cheers!

Thank you very much! I will be attempting to change the return of my own ticket in about 4 weeks' time, after I take the outbound.

Since no one reported back here on either cancellation or change after departure - I actually did both for my own tickets and for a friend.
