Did it actually save the selected seats? I am seeing the seat map on rj.com, and can pick any seat - but when I try to save, it comes back with an error about "unavailable service" or some such.

Yes, it saved. I pulled up the reservation on BA and it showed the selected seats. I was running into the same problem as yours, but when I tried another seat, somehow it worked.

Woke up at just the right time to catch this, in for two issued through Propeller Travel, one MAD-LIM-SCL for Xmas/NY on IB metal on the long flight and the other MAD-SCL-IPC for 934 EUR.

There are still dates available in Feb/March via Booking.com if you can make it through. I tried twice, but failed. Others appear to have got through, so may be worth a go for those still trying to jump onboard.

Booked MAD-EZE-SCL-MAD roundtrip for $340, a great deal for mileage run on Alaska airline. Be careful on choosing seats after you book the cheapest biz flight on IB, I accidently chose the seat near the toilet, but can't change it anymore, called the customer service and being told that they only allow one-time seat picking.
