Thank you! Because of you, I was just was able to rebook to make it CMN-JFK and then 4 months later JFK-MIA on the same day as my MIA-LHR/CMN flight. Significantly better than purchasing two additional positioning flights to MIA. Long time lurker, thrilled I was able to adjust this with your tip. appreciate it

yeah it exceeds MPM. but MIA-LAX is cheap most of the time anyway, F fares like these are not too frequent.

ORD works. Slightly shorter flight but at least with LAX MIA you can get widebodies.

If the booking classes are J and A, will there a $250 charge to cancel? Cant find any J/F combinations for RAK or any CMN options that are coming in at this price.

I don't know how you got that to work. Yes, stopovers are free, but the HIP check on a stopover will add thousands of dollars.
Apparently BA metal with an AA flight number was allowed at some point, but that's no longer true. Both LAX and DFW exceed the MPM mileage. ORD will work for MPM but I didn't see any flights LHR-ORD with F class service on AA metal. All I have been able to see is straight LHR-MIA or LHR-JFK-MIA but no stopover over 24 hours in JFK

Here's an example with a one week stopover in New York and a single day (no overnight) in Miami:

I just tried booking exactly that and got to the "submit payment" page on AA, got a "price has changed: $260 to $760", and then I get "unavailable, our system is having trouble" when I accept. Same happens when logged in or not.

Same happened to me, I canceled my AA booking and had to book via Priceline. Just grabbed another for my mom on priceline also so I know it's do-able.

It's the fare basis that determines it, not the booking inventory. The ANN7IMN7 fare basis specifies a $250 change fee, but AA has a policy now that change fees are waived except on Basic Economy fares. I bought a round-trip CMN-MIA with as long a stay in MIA as I could book, but would like a longer one. I'm planning to fly the inbound, then request to change the dates with the change fee waiver. The only hitch I see is that I can't find the fare basis in EF, so I don't know how an agent will reprice using historical fares as of the original ticketing date.

Edited to add: I found this in the fare rules: "NO CHANGE CHARGE ONLY APPLIES FOR TRAVEL ON/AFTER 01APR21".

How interesting. I only tried with the one-way F fare, and it did apply the HIP check and came out to $7000. However, the round-trip A fare does not do the HIP check (even though it says it will). So yeah, you can do a stopover in JFK. Actually you can do a stopover anywhere.
CMN-MAD-LHR-JFK-ZZZ and then ZZZ-MIA-LHR-MAD-CMN still prices in the $700 range. In my test ZZZ was Boston, but probably anything else will work too.

I found a flight on GF, follow the link to AA but when booking it gives an error of 'unavailable our system is having trouble', does that mean the flights cant be booked on AA, if so are there any other options? I cant get the routing to price up on priceline.
